About Wandance: A Rhythmic Romance
Wandance is a TV anime adaptation of the “street dance x romance” manga by Kohii, which is currently serialized in Kodansha’s monthly comic magazine “Afternoon” and has already surpassed 900,000 copies in circulation. This captivating coming-of-age story follows Odani Hanaki (CV. Uchiyama Kouki), a high school student who struggles with stuttering and finds it difficult to express his feelings. He becomes drawn into the world of dance through Wanda Hikari (CV. Yoomiya Hina), a classmate who pursues her own expression without concern for others’ opinions. Through dance, Odani Hanaki challenges himself with “freestyle” expression, where words are no longer needed.
The series features a vibrant cast of characters, each excelling in various dance genres. Among them are Miyao On (CV. Suwa Ayaka), the dance club president and an absolute ace who can master any style; Itsukushima Iori (CV. Masuda Toshiki), a ghost member with exceptional “house” dance sense; and Kabei Raku (CV. Uchida Yuuma), a formidable rival from another school who champions “breaking.” The newly released main visual is a dynamic showcase of these main characters, striking dance poses in their respective signature styles, perfectly capturing the vibrant essence of a dance animation.
Behind the Scenes: The Talented Production Team
Information regarding the main staff has also been revealed. This production pays meticulous attention to detail, not only in its animation but also heavily in its CG, dance, and music. The dance scenes are brought to life through a sophisticated process: dance performers, specifically cast for each character, physically perform the movements, which are then captured via motion capture and integrated into the CG animation. Furthermore, the anime boasts over 30 in-play songs, with many original compositions created exclusively for the series. Anticipation is high for the dedicated staff supporting this unprecedented and authentic dance animation.
Exclusive Pre-screening Event Announced!
Adding to the excitement, an exclusive pre-screening event with a special stage greeting by the lavish cast is confirmed to be held on September 27th at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo. Main voice cast members Uchiyama Kouki, Yoomiya Hina, Suwa Ayaka, and Masuda Toshiki are scheduled to appear, alongside KAITA, the dance performer for the protagonist Odani Hanaki.
