Eiga Doraemon Nobita no Jouki Jikansha Set for March 5, 2027

The beloved Doraemon anime film series is officially heading to 19th-century England in its next big-screen adventure. The new movie, titled Eiga Doraemon Nobita no Jouki Jikansha, is scheduled to hit Japanese cinemas on March 5, 2027. Directed by Moriyama Ruushio and written by Ueda Makoto, the film will present a completely original story of time travel that carries the group from 21st-century Japan to the streets of Victorian Britain.

The logo for the film was revealed along with the announcement.

A New Chapter After the Hit 45th Film

The Doraemon movie series has taken audiences to the Antarctic, a treasure island, the moon, the world of dinosaurs, outer space, and a floating utopia. Its 45th film, Eiga Doraemon Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjou, which opened in February, was a re-adaptation of the 1983 classic and became a long-running success, staying at No. 1 in the weekend box office for six consecutive weeks and captivating viewers of all ages.

Now the 46th installment raises the curtain on a new journey. In Nobita no Jouki Jikansha, Doraemon and his friends travel across time from contemporary Japan to Britain in the 1800s, where a grand adventure unfolds.

Director and Screenwriter Join the Series for the First Time

Moriyama Ruushio, who has been involved with the Doraemon TV anime since 2020 and directed many episodes, makes his feature film debut with this project. He is joined by screenwriter Ueda Makoto, known as the leader of the theater group Europe Kikaku and the creator of popular time- and sci-fi-themed stage works such as Summer Time Machine Blues and Magare! Spoon. Ueda has also written for anime and television, including the 2024 Doraemon birthday special “Nobita and the Greek Cake Legend.” Both artists are making their inaugural contribution to the movie series, building anticipation for this fresh collaboration.

Teaser Trailer and Visual

The first teaser trailer showcases Nobita brightening up at the idea of visiting London, while the gang boards the time machine headed for 19th-century England. Sweeping shots of the historical London streets and the characters in period costumes hint at the scale of the adventure ahead. The action kicks into gear when Doraemon calls out “Departure, engage!” and a gleaming rail track lights up as the key item of the film—the “Jouki Jikansha” (Steam Time Car)—races across the screen, billowing steam as it crosses time itself.

But the trailer takes a surprising turn when the footage suddenly rewinds and Doraemon’s top hat falls to the ground. Doraemon shouts, “The flow of time is changing!” What fate awaits the group in this time-crossed story remains a mystery.

The teaser visual features Doraemon and Nobita in 19th-century British attire, standing in front of the Steam Time Car as if taking a commemorative photograph. The monochrome palette evokes a nostalgic, olden-day atmosphere, underscored by the tagline: “This is a story of time connecting past and future.”

The movie mark was also unveiled.
