Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 24 Re-broadcast: Zenitsu’s Outburst and Shinobu’s Dream | Fan Reactions

The full-series re-broadcast of the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime reached episode 24, “Functional Recovery Training,” on September 20, 2026. Zenitsu’s explosive rant about the training’s hands-on nature had fans laughing, while Shinobu’s emotional conversation with Tanjirou left others reaching for tissues. Here’s how viewers reacted to the latest re-run.

Based on Gotouge Koyoharu’s manga, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows Kamado Tanjirou, a boy whose family is murdered by demons and whose sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to restore her humanity. The anime, produced by ufotable, began with the “Kamado Tanjirou: Risshi Arc” in April 2019 and has continued through the “Hashira Training Arc” in 2024. The film Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Shiro Arc is being released as a trilogy, with Chapter 1, “Akaza Returns,” arriving in theaters on July 18, 2025.

Rengoku and Shinobu’s Last Exchange

The episode opens with Insect Hashira Kochou Shinobu asking Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyoujurou if he is heading out. He says he has new information about demons and may be facing an Upper Rank. Shinobu reassures him, saying she is not worried as long as Rengoku is going.

Fans immediately connected this scene to the upcoming Mugen Train arc, with reactions like “Rengoku and Shinobu’s last conversation,” “Please come back safely, Rengoku,” and “This leads straight into Mugen Train.”

Murata’s Gloomy Visit

At the Butterfly Mansion, Zenitsu’s voice rings out as he refuses to take his medicine. Tanjirou drinks his dose while Zenitsu complains, and Inosuke is quiet because his throat is sore. Then Murata, the Demon Slayer they met at Mt. Natagumo, stops by to deliver a report. He tells Tanjirou that he was summoned to a Hashira meeting, and it was terrifying. “The Hashira are scary! They say the quality of new slayers has dropped,” he laments.

Fans were delighted to see Murata, calling him “the strongest rank-and-file slayer” and joking, “Murata’s alive, good.” Some also pointed out that the “quality dropped” comment was likely aimed at the dicing steak incident from the previous episode.

Shinobu then appears, and Murata scurries away after a quick greeting. She announces that it’s time for functional recovery training.

The Terrifying Functional Recovery Training

The training consists of three parts: first, the three girls who work at the Butterfly Mansion—Takada Naho, Nakahara Sumi, and Terauchi Kiyo—loosen up the patients’ stiff bodies. Second, a reflex drill where opponents splash each other with medicine-filled cups. Third, a game of tag with Aoi and Tsuyuri Kanao.

When Zenitsu learns what the training involves, he is furious. He drags Tanjirou and Inosuke aside and unleashes one of his most famous rants:

“You looked like you were in heaven but now you act like it’s hell! You were just having fun with girls every day! You should beg on your knees and commit seppuku!” He then adds, “Each girl has two breasts, two buttocks, and two thighs! Passing by them smells good, and just looking at them is fun!”

The outburst is overheard by Aoi and the others, and fans can’t get enough. Reactions included: “This is Zenitsu’s signature scene,” “He’s completely serious,” “Zenitsu’s dedication to women never changes,” and “Wait, he counts one buttock as each half?”

Tanjirou’s Unyielding Determination

After a few days, Zenitsu and Inosuke stop coming to training, discouraged by Kanao’s overwhelming speed. But Tanjirou keeps going, repeatedly asking Kanao to train with him until he is exhausted.

The three girls later advise Tanjirou to practice Total Concentration Breathing constantly—day and night, even while sleeping. They also teach him to blow into a hard gourd until it bursts. Tanjirou reexamines his breathing and steadily improves.

Fans praised the trio’s guidance, noting how crucial they are to Tanjirou’s growth. Comments included, “Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho are so cute” and “They give him amazing advice.”

Shinobu’s Dream

One night, Tanjirou is meditating on the roof of the Butterfly Mansion when Shinobu appears beside him. She tells him she wants to entrust him with her dream—getting along with demons. When Tanjirou senses anger in her scent and asks if she is angry, Shinobu begins telling him about her older sister, who was killed by demons.

This emotional scene resonated deeply with viewers. Reactions included, “This scene between Shinobu and Tanjirou is my favorite,” “I cry every time at the flashback,” and “Watching this after Infinity Castle Arc makes me understand Shinobu even more.” Shinobu leaves after noting that Tanjirou’s breathing has stopped, and Tanjirou immediately resumes his training.
