About Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (Muri janakatta!?)
Watanare is a delightful, non-stop girls’ love comedy that unfolds within the vibrant setting of a school. The story centers on Amaori Renako, who decides to shed her “loner” middle school past and make a fresh start in high school. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally forms a secret friendship with the school’s superstar, Oozuka Mai, after they find common ground by sharing their troubles.
The anime adaptation is based on the popular light novel series published by Shueisha’s “Dash X Bunko”. The original novel received significant acclaim, winning first place in the new work division at the “Tsugi ni Kuru Light Novel Taishoo 2021” (Next Light Novel Award 2021). Its popularity is undeniable, with the series having sold over 500,000 copies as of September 2024, marking a truly impressive milestone.
The TV anime is brought to life by studioMOTHER, under the skilled direction of Uchinuma Natsumi. The talented voice cast includes Nakamura Kanna, Oonishi Saori, Anzai Yukari, Ichinose Kana, Tanaka Takako, and Sagara Mayu, all lending their voices to perfectly embody these charming characters and their intertwined stories.
