The TV anime Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru has officially been greenlit for a third season. The announcement came with a newly drawn illustration and a congratulatory comment video from Hirata Hiroaki, the voice of protagonist Beryl Gardinant.
Based on the novel by author Sagazaki Shigeru and illustrator Nabeshima Tetsuhiro, Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru is an orthodox swordmaster fantasy. Including the comic adaptation by Satsuki Kazuki and two spin-off titles, the series has surpassed 11 million copies in cumulative circulation.
The first TV anime season aired and streamed from April to June 2025, and entered the Prime Video top 10 in more than 45 countries and regions. In May 2026, at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2026 held in Singapore, the first season’s story was recognized with the Storytelling Award.
The third season was announced immediately after the second season’s final episode aired on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. A new illustration was also released, showing Beryl Gardinant taking a leisurely walk through Biden Village.
Hirata Hiroaki also shared a comment video celebrating the third season decision. He expressed his joy at the news and joked, “For season 3, I’ll make everyone do monologues!” while speaking about his enthusiasm for the new season.
The anime’s official X account is running a follow-and-repost campaign to commemorate the third season announcement. By following the official X account and reposting the campaign post, one lucky winner will receive Beryl’s sword, the “Zeno Greyble Longsword,” via lottery.

In addition, the second season’s Blu-ray upper volume will be released on March 3, 2027, and the lower volume on April 2, 2027. Bonuses include a newly drawn sleeve by character designer Hayasaka Satsuki, a booklet featuring a newly written novel by author Sagazaki Shigeru, and a soundtrack.
