The ROBOT Tamashii <SIDE LABOR> line is adding the Griffon (Twin Unit Equipment) figure. The general retail release is set for March 2027 at 13,200 yen (tax included), with preorders opening on October 1, 2026.
The Griffon is known as the greatest rival to Shinohara Heavy Industries’ AV-98 Ingram. This version includes a flight unit plus newly sculpted backpack parts for the aqua unit, allowing the machine to be displayed in its land, sea, and air forms. A damaged head for Ingram Unit 2 is also included as an optional part, so fans can recreate the impact of the Harumi Incident when it is combined with the flight unit.
Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor Background
Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor was developed by the creative team Headgear, with Yuuki Masami serving as original concept and manga creator and Izubuchi Yutaka as mechanical designer, among the team’s members. In a world where robot technology has advanced, the story centers on the characters of the Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Bureau Special Vehicle Section 2, a unit established to prevent crimes involving the work machines called Labors.
A completely new anime, Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor EZY, has been released theatrically in eight episodes across three chapters. Izubuchi Yutaka directs, Itou Kazunori handles screenplay and series composition, Yuuki Masami provides original character designs, and Takada Akemi joins as costume design collaborator.
Griffon Twin Unit Equipment Details
The ROBOT Tamashii <SIDE LABOR> Griffon (Twin Unit Equipment) comes with both the flight unit backpack and the aqua unit backpack. The newly sculpted aqua unit parts expand the display options beyond the Griffon’s standard form, while the flight unit and Ingram Unit 2 broken head offer a direct nod to the Harumi Incident.
