Monchhichi is back with a second wave of stationery and lifestyle goods. The new collection spans 11 items featuring photographic artwork, and it will roll out sequentially from late September at general merchandise stores, stationery specialty shops, and online retailers across Japan.
A Plush Toy With More Than 50 Years of History
Monchhichi is a plush toy released by Sekiguchi in 1974. It is recognizable for its pacifier pose and freckles, and for a distinctive construction in which the body is plush while the face and limbs are made of soft vinyl. The character has proven enduringly popular, with cumulative sales of more than 70 million units across more than 30 countries to date.
Photographic Art and a Return Appearance by Bebichhichi
The second series makes use of photographic artwork, and some items also feature Bebichhichi, the twin babies who joined Monchhichi-kun and Monchhichi-chan in 2004. The lineup ranges from a seal binder that plays up the fluffy feel of the plush toy to a drawstring pouch, giving Monchhichi fans of a wide range of ages plenty to choose from.
