Suica no Penguin x OJICO: Sheep and Banana Sweatshirts and Parkas Debut

Suica no Penguin is stepping into playful new apparel. A collaboration between the long-running Suica mascot and the clothing brand OJICO has produced a lineup of sweatshirts and parkas, offered in two motifs: “Hitsuji” (sheep) and “Banana.”

Advance sales open on October 16, 2026 at the OJICO limited-time shop inside JR Tokyo Station’s Dourin no Hiroba, then move to JR Mitaka Station from November 4 and to ecute Ueno from November 9.

Who Is Suica no Penguin?

Suica no Penguin came from Antarctica to Tokyo. Its favorite food is fish sausage, and it is modeled on the Adelie penguin, which really does live in Antarctica. Because the character functions as an “alter ego” for each person’s IC card, it has no name. It is a companion character that heads out with its owner whenever they take a Suica card or penguin goods along with them.

The penguin has been a familiar face since Suica was born in 2001. It is now set to “fly to a new place” at the end of fiscal 2026, in March 2027. On September 8, JR East began a vote on a new character design and revealed three final candidates, bringing renewed attention to Suica no Penguin.

Two Playful Designs: Sheep and Bananas

In its last year as Suica’s image character, the penguin appears on a collaboration sweatshirt and parka drawn by Sakazaki Chiharu.

Suica no Penguin x OJICO “Hitsuji” gives the character a seasonal autumn-winter look, surrounded by sheep. Tied to the 2027 zodiac sign, the design places the penguin among a fluffy flock, making it feel warm at a glance.

The second design, Suica no Penguin x OJICO “Banana,” pairs the penguin with bananas in an especially playful composition. It makes use of the parka’s kangaroo pocket and hood, with the penguins hugging bananas as pillows or playing on a banana boat, each enjoying themselves in their own way.

The pieces carry the playful spirit of OJICO, a brand that develops apparel and lifestyle goods around the theme “I don’t want a T-shirt that isn’t fun.” With the penguin’s March 2027 graduation approaching, it may be worth a look.
