Anime Weekly Rankings on ABEMA: Dandadan Dominates for Six Consecutive Weeks!

ABEMA, a leading streaming platform, has recently unveiled its much-anticipated weekly anime rankings for the week of September 8th. The latest list highlights the series that have captivated audiences most, showcasing the shifts and steadfast favorites in the competitive world of Japanese animation.

Dandadan’s Unbreakable Reign at the Top

For an impressive sixth consecutive week, the supernatural action-comedy Dandadan has firmly held onto the coveted number one spot. This fan-favorite anime continues to enthrall viewers with its thrilling occult battles, heartwarming character interactions, and unique blend of humor and intensity.

Based on the highly praised manga by Ryu Yukinobu, serialized in Shueisha’s “Shounen Jump+”, Dandadan plunges audiences into an extraordinary world. The story follows high school girl Ayase Momo, who comes from a lineage of spirit mediums, and her classmate Takakura Ken, an ardent occult enthusiast affectionately known as Okarun. Together, this unlikely duo faces off against a barrage of bizarre and menacing supernatural entities, navigating thrilling occult battles while also experiencing the poignant and often comical aspects of growing up.

The TV anime’s first season, which premiered in October 2024, quickly became a sensation. It garnered significant attention for its distinct take on occult-themed combat and its deeply engaging narrative. The original manga’s popularity skyrocketed, now boasting a cumulative circulation of over 10 million copies. As the second season, which began airing in July 2025, continues to unfold, fans are eagerly following Momo, Okarun, and their companions as they embark on new perilous adventures and uncover deeper mysteries.

Notable Climbs and Triumphant Returns

While Dandadan maintained its strong lead, the latest rankings also showcased some intriguing movements among other popular series. The fantasy Isekai anime, Tensei shitara Dai Nana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu (also known in English as I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability), impressed by climbing one spot from its fourth position last week. Adding to the excitement, the action-packed series Kaijuu 8-gou (known in English as Kaiju No. 8) made a triumphant return to the TOP 5 after a four-week absence, much to the delight of its dedicated fanbase.
