About Natsume Yuujinchou
For those unfamiliar with the enchanting world, Natsume Yuujinchou tells the story of Natsume Takashi, a young boy who has been able to see youkai since he was little. After inheriting the “Yuujinchou” (Book of Friends) from his grandmother, Natsume Takashi embarks on a journey alongside his self-proclaimed bodyguard, the mischievous Nyanko-sensei, to return the names to the youkai bound within the book.
As he navigates his unique ability, Natsume Takashi begins to seek his own path through interactions with both humans and youkai. Aided by his trusted companions who share his sentiments, he strives to find a way to protect his everyday life.
The original manga by Midorikawa Yuki began serialization in Hakusensha’s “Gekkan LaLa” and its predecessor “LaLa DX” in July 2003, selling over 18 million copies to date. The first season of the TV anime adaptation aired in July 2008, with the latest installment, the seventh season titled Natsume Yuujinchou Urushi, having premiered in October 2024.
