Pixar’s Latest Adventure “Watashi ga Beaver ni Naru Toki” (Original Title: Hoppers) Reveals US Trailer and Japan Release Date!

Disney & Pixar’s latest film, Watashi ga Beaver ni Naru Toki (Original Title: Hoppers), is officially set to premiere in Japan on March 13, 2026. To mark this exciting announcement, a wild and chaotic US trailer has been unveiled, giving us a first look at the grand adventures awaiting Mabel, a college student who loves animals so much she “hops” (transfers her consciousness) into a fluffy beaver-shaped animal robot, only to find herself embroiled in mayhem within the animal kingdom!

Dive into a World Where Animals Reign in “Watashi ga Beaver ni Naru Toki”

Watashi ga Beaver ni Naru Toki centers around Mabel, a university student with an undeniable passion for animals. This unique story explores a “what if” scenario: what if humans could become residents of the animal world? Mabel takes advantage of a groundbreaking invention by scientists—a method to “transfer” human consciousness into realistic robot animals. Driven by her love for all creatures, she “hops” into an adorable, fluffy beaver-shaped robot. Imagine the excitement!

Overjoyed at finally being able to communicate with her beloved animals, Mabel exclaims, “This is amazing~~~!” However, she soon discovers that the animal world operates under unexpectedly harsh realities, governed by the “pond rules” – where being eaten is simply part of the natural order. It’s a challenging awakening to the wild side!

Mabel’s Wild Journey and a Forest in Peril

Despite her initial bewilderment, Mabel gradually adapts to her new surroundings, learning the intricate rules of the animal kingdom. Along the way, she befriends an eclectic group: King George, the regal beaver monarch; Loaf, a laid-back beaver; and Ellen, a sturdy bear. But Mabel’s transformation into a beaver isn’t just for fun; she has a profound objective. Her mission is to confront the humans who threaten to destroy the forest, a place she deeply cherishes. “Let’s all stand up to them!” she passionately urges her new animal companions.

However, the situation escalates when a grand Animal Council convenes, bringing together the kings of various species. Upon learning of the human invasion of their forest, the council members erupt in fury. Radical sentiments fly from the Queen of the Insects, a butterfly, who declares, “We’ll crush the human king!”, and a caterpillar chimes in, “They’ll crush us! We must retaliate!” Driven by such extreme insect-eye-view pronouncements, the animals concoct a terrifying scheme to “deal with” the human mayor. This rapidly escalating conflict threatens a catastrophic clash between the animal and human worlds. Mabel finds herself torn: she must stop the animals’ drastic plan, yet she desperately wants to protect the forest. What astonishing plan will the conflicted Mabel choose?

The Creative Vision Behind the Adventure

At the helm of this exciting production, both as director and writer, is Daniel Chong, a talented storyboard artist known for the critically acclaimed and Academy Award-winning Inside Out. Last year’s sequel also achieved global success, showcasing his profound ability to depict the never-before-seen “world inside the mind.” Chong revealed that his inspiration for Watashi ga Beaver ni Naru Toki came from Studio Ghibli’s masterpiece, Director Takahata Isao’s Heisei Tanuki Gassen Pom Poko. To bring this vision to life, he meticulously researched the beaver ecosystem, ensuring an authentic and immersive experience.
