Jujutsu Kaisen Teams up with Furifu for Stylish Character Yukata Collection
Get ready to elevate your summer style with a touch of jujutsu power! The popular TV anime `Jujutsu Kaisen` is collaborating with the renowned kimono brand “Furifu” to release a stunning collection of yukata inspired by your favorite characters. Featuring designs based on `Itadori Yuuji`, `Fushiguro Megumi`, `Gojou Satoru`, and `Getou Suguru`, these special collaboration yukata are set to go on sale starting `May 20 (Tuesday)`.
『呪術廻戦』 is a dark fantasy manga by Akutami Gege originally serialized in `Shuukan Shounen Jump`. The compelling story follows the protagonist, `Itadori Yuuji`, who swallows a cursed object to save his friends and becomes host to a powerful curse himself, plunging into a brutal world of curses. The manga concluded its run in the 44th issue of the same magazine on `September 30, 2024`, and has become a massive hit, surpassing 100 million copies in circulation.
The series first hit the screen with a TV anime adaptation in `October 2020`, followed by the hugely successful film `Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0` which premiered in `December 2021`. The excitement continues with the announcement of the anime’s third season, adapting the “Shimetu Kaiyuu” (Culling Game) arc. Fans also have the theatrical compilation movie `Gekijouban Soushuuhen Jujutsu Kaisen Kaigyoku Gyokusetsu` to look forward to, scheduled for release on `May 30, 2025`.
This special collaboration came to life through a shared appreciation for traditional Japanese aesthetics (“Wa”) and a natural overlap in target audiences between the `Jujutsu Kaisen` series and the Furifu brand. The designs beautifully capture the individual essence and atmosphere of each featured character, making these yukata perfect for fans. The `Itadori Yuuji` model yukata embodies `Itadori Yuuji`’s energetic and positive spirit with a dynamic arrow feather pattern that spreads outward, symbolizing forward momentum. It represents his unwavering will, offering a simple yet impactful style. The accompanying `heko obi` (a soft, casual obi) is a deep orange, creating a vivid contrast against the yukata and adding to the powerful yet refined aesthetic.
Reflecting `Fushiguro Megumi`’s calm and composed demeanor, this design harmonizes three distinct patterns: classic stripes, `Mujina Kiku` (badger chrysanthemum), and the traditional Japanese `Wanigai` (interlocking ring) pattern. The `Mujina Kiku` pattern cleverly hides small details of his Shikigami, including `Tamaken` (Divine Dogs), `Gama` (Toad), and `Datto` (Rabbit Escape), subtly woven into the design. The `Wanigai` pattern symbolizes connection and bonds, showing how rings link together. A subdued grey `heko obi` is paired with the yukata, providing a grounding element that pulls the whole look together.
Inspired by `Gojou Satoru` during the `Kaigyoku Gyokusetsu` arc, this yukata captures the sparkle of youth with a clear, sky-blue color adorned with peony flowers and white rhombus patterns. It evokes a sense of infinite possibility, resulting in a design that is both strong and refreshing. The white `heko obi` enhances the cool, stylish finish of the outfit.
The `Getou Suguru` yukata from the `Kaigyoku Gyokusetsu` arc features a mysterious and profound design with an ink marbling pattern that resembles melting darkness, accented by swirling golden lines. This captures the interplay of light and shadow within the character. Black camellias are incorporated, symbolizing his unwavering beliefs. When paired with the `heko obi`, the outfit creates a look with significant presence.
