May 22nd is Eguchi Takuya-san’s birthday.
Eguchi Takuya-san made his seiyu debut in the 2000s. He received the Best New Actor award at the 6th Seiyu Awards, and at the 17th awards, he won Best Lead Actor and the MVS (Most Valuable Seiyu), an award chosen by fans for the most active seiyu.
From 2024 to 2025, he has appeared in a wide range of media titles, including television, web series, and films, such as Egumi Legacy, Hanma Baki vs Kengan Ashura, and Berusaiyu no Bara. He is also active as an artist. He performed at the “kiramune Music Festival 2025” held on May 10th and 11th, and his new song “Da x Da x Da” was released for streaming on May 22nd.
To celebrate Eguchi Takuya-san’s birthday, we conducted a reader survey titled “Which is your favorite character voiced by him?” for the second year in a row. We received responses from 347 people during the survey period from May 13th to May 17th.
The gender ratio was approximately 20 percent male and 80 percent female, with a larger proportion of women participating. By age group, those aged 19 and under accounted for about 50 percent, and those in their 20s about 15 percent, indicating a focus on younger demographics.

Characters with Anticipated New Works Rank High!
1st Place
The first place goes to Roido Foojaa from SPY×FAMILY. With a support rate of about 31 percent, he takes the top spot for the third consecutive year.
Fans praised his expressive performance, noting how wonderfully he differentiates between his role as a top-class spy and his slightly clumsy side as a father. Comments included, “I love how he’s a top-tier spy but somehow clumsy as a dad. Watching him get tossed around by his daughter Anya and wife Yor, while building a warm and lively family, is so healing. I wish I could be part of the Forger family too!” and “He’s working in the shadows as the agent <Twilight>, but his expressive voice when the ‘dad-like’ side occasionally surfaces is amazing! I’m always surprised by his portrayal of Roido, who seems perfect but is actually full of human imperfections.”
Many also resonated with Roido’s strong conviction, saying, “When you hear ‘spy,’ you imagine someone cold, but Roido’s voice conveys kindness. That must be because he became a spy wanting to create a world where children don’t cry.” With the third season scheduled to air from October, even more excitement is building.
2nd Place
Second place is Dotto Baretto from Mashle. His support rate was about 9 percent, moving up from 3rd place last year.
This classmate who acts as a moodmaker ranked highly. Comments included, “He’s an essential character in Mashle, always hyping things up, like confessing to a girl he likes and getting rejected, or genuinely hating good-looking guys. I was captivated by Eguchi-san’s performance, realizing he’s so good at shouting roles too!” and “He’s a hot-headed character who’s good at explosion magic. His language is rough, but he’s surprisingly good at making herbal tea, has zero resistance to girls, and is actually a good friend… He has so many cute and endearing gaps in his personality.”
Despite his high-tension and comical moments, he often faces unfortunate situations, like being turned into a baby by magic. Many fans felt that even these moments were part of his charm. A sequel for this series has also been announced.
3rd Place
Third place is Rokumyaa Nagi from IDOLiSH7. With a support rate of about 7 percent, he dropped a spot from last year’s second place but remains in the top 3.
Fans praised his ability to bring out the charm of this unique character. Comments included, “His distinctive way of speaking, typical of a prince from a foreign country, sounds incredibly natural. You can feel Nagi’s refined upbringing. I was impressed by Eguchi-san’s skill in giving that portrayal such settopuryoku,” and “Thanks to his slightly higher-pitched voice, which differs a bit from Eguchi-san’s usual tone, Nagi’s brightness and kindness, prioritizing his companions above all else, really stand out. He also shows an otaku-like side, loving anime and games, which adds depth to his acting.” A theatrical compilation of the first season, IDOLiSH7 First BEAT! Theatrical Compilation, divided into Part 1 and Part 2, is scheduled for release.

For Watanuki Banri from Youko x Boku SS: “Hearing his self-introduction, ‘Ore wa 1-gou shitsu no juunin Watanuki Banri Furyou (Waru) da ze!’, the sense of unity between the voice and character was shocking. He’s usually cheerful and outspoken, but it’s also amazing how he completely changes the atmosphere in serious scenes.”
For Tsurukou from Ahare! Meisaku-kun: “He’s extremely high-energy, and it’s hilarious how Eguchi-san’s ‘young person’s language’ explodes. You can really picture him enjoying the performance himself.”
For Amemiya Taiyou from Inazuma Eleven GO: “His dedication to soccer despite having a disease brought me to tears. In the second season, he joined the team and even succeeded with a technique alongside Shoukaturyou Koumei, overcoming adversity. He really gave me energy.”
For Yuriusu Yuukuriusu from Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: “The voice perfectly matches his face! His performance, combining kindness, elegance, and inner strength, is wonderful. But in the third season finale, something terrible happens to Yuriusu… I can’t wait for the sequel!” Votes were also cast for titles with ongoing production for their next season.
In the 2025 rankings, popular series with confirmed sequels or compilation movies ranked high. It’s notable that Eguchi-san plays different types of characters depending on the work, reaffirming that he has breathed life into a wide variety of roles.
