The latest episode of the anime “Apocalypse Hotel,” Episode 7, which aired sequentially from May 20th, featured a rather unique method used by the hotelier robots, including Yachiyo (CV: Shirasu Saho), to attract customers. This distinctive approach quickly caught viewers’ attention, with comments like “Is this the ‘customer calling’ method of the new era!?” popping up everywhere.
Episode 7, titled “Ojigi wa Fukaku Kokorozashi wa Takaku” (which can be translated as “Deep Bows, High Aspirations”), depicted the daily routine of Yachiyo and others engaged in their “customer calling duty.” The employee robots and Ponko (CV: Morohoshi Sumire), a “Tanuki Alien,” along with her family, formed a circle in front of the hotel. There, they began repeating the same phrase, albeit somewhat monotonously: “Bentoraa, Bentoraa, Space People…”
This chant is a classic, well-known incantation used to summon UFOs. Considering the hotel’s guests are extraterrestrials from outside of Earth, this method might be considered somewhat reasonable as a way to attract visitors. However, it’s so vastly different from typical customer attraction strategies that viewers couldn’t help but react with amusement. Comments flooded in, such as “Bentora in the Reiwa era,” “This is the ‘customer calling’ of the new era…!?”, and “Bentoraa is a customer calling method! www”.
