Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito Light Novel & Manga Get Anime Adaptation!
Get ready, fans! The popular series Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito is officially getting an anime adaptation! Publishing company Ichijinsha spilled the beans, announcing that both the light novel penned by Makiburo and its manga counterpart are being brought to the screen. They even dropped a cool prototype visual along with the announcement. This is certainly exciting news for everyone who’s been following the story of Remilia and Emi!
The Journey So Far: From Web Novel to Print
The story of Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito originally began its life on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website back in May 2020, written by Makiburo. Its popularity led to Ichijinsha picking it up for a light novel publication under their Ichijinsha Novels imprint. The first volume hit shelves in February 2021, featuring lovely illustrations by Mai Murasaki. Just recently, the second volume came out in February 2024. The series has been doing quite well, boasting a cumulative 2 million copies printed across its volumes.
For those who prefer visuals, a manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume started serializing on the Comic Pool website in November 2021. It later moved over to Comic Lake. The manga recently concluded its run with the final chapter released on Friday. The fifth volume of the manga shipped out in November 2024, and the sixth and final volume is set to be released soon, on June 25.
What’s the Story About?
The tale kicks off with Emi Kobayashi, who finds herself heartbroken after her death, only to realize she’s reincarnated as Remilia Rosa Graupner, the villainess from her favorite otome game! Emi, being inherently kind, is determined to live a good life as Remilia. Her warm nature quickly wins over key characters, setting Remilia up for a bright future. For a decade, Remilia has been watching from the sidelines within Emi, content as long as kind-hearted Emi is happy.
However, things take a dark turn with the arrival of the game’s protagonist, Pina Blanche. Pina shows her true colors from the start, using underhanded tactics to ruin Remilia’s reputation and turn everyone against her. When despair overwhelms Emi, control of the body snaps back to Remilia. But this villainess isn’t about to let Pina get away with it easily. Remilia swears revenge, ready to unleash the power of a true villainess on everyone who wronged Emi.
