Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Jinshi’s Elegant Drink and Maomao’s Cute “Niyaniya” Dessert Available! Limited Food & Goods Appear at USJ Collaboration

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is currently hosting “Universal Cool Japan 2025” for approximately a year, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its special event “Universal Cool Japan.” Recently, information has arrived regarding event-limited original food and goods resulting from the collaboration between Kusuriya no Hitorigoto and the park’s Chinese restaurant “The Dragon’s Pearl,” set to launch from June 30, 2025.

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (also known as The Apothecary Diaries) is a mystery entertainment series where Maomao, a girl from a pharmacy with an unusual obsession with poisons and medicine, solves numerous incidents occurring within the imperial court. Due to a certain incident, Maomao catches the eye of the handsome eunuch Jinshi and begins working as his poison tester. The series has gained widespread appeal, not only for Maomao’s exhilarating heroine qualities as she takes on difficult cases, but also for its authentic mysteries and human drama. It’s loved by a wide range of generations and boasts over 40 million copies sold in total across the series. The second season of the TV anime began in January 2025, with its second cour currently airing since April.

Such a popular work is now collaborating with USJ. The collaboration features the “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Mystery Walk ~Investigate the Mysterious All-Purpose Medicine~,” where guests will trace the truth behind a “mysterious all-purpose medicine” together with Maomao, set to start from July 1st.

Ahead of this, it has been announced that original menus for the “pharmacists” (guests) to take a break while investigating will be offered starting from June 30th at “The Dragon’s Pearl,” the park’s Chinese restaurant that evokes the atmosphere of the series’ imperial court.

The “Maomao’s Colorful Sudachi Cold Noodles Combo,” based on Maomao’s signature green color, features jade cold noodles with a refreshing sudachi aroma and a hint of sansho pepper that evokes the feeling of being a “pharmacist.” The combo also includes a manju bun with Maomao’s likeness branded on it.

For dessert, the “Maomao’s Strawberry Almond Tofu with Yellow Peach” is available, marked by a grinning Maomao unable to hide her joy after finding medicinal herbs. This dish is topped with leaf-shaped chocolate, inspired by the medicinal herbs Maomao adores.

Furthermore, the “Jinshi’s Lychee-Scented Citrus Drink” is also on the lineup, notable for its beautiful purple gradient, Jinshi’s color. This drink, which expresses the elegant and dignified Jinshi, is finished with a refreshing lychee flavor, making it perfect for the hot season.

Additionally, collaboration goods between “The Dragon’s Pearl,” where “pharmacists” gather, and Kusuriya no Hitorigoto will be available. The “Acrylic Pen Stand,” featuring Maomao and Jinshi standing in front of “The Dragon’s Pearl,” is an original park-exclusive item that lets you feel close to Maomao and Jinshi even at home. You can display pens used for solving mysteries or take home memories of investigating the mysterious medicine.

The event-limited original food and goods resulting from the collaboration between Kusuriya no Hitorigoto and the park’s Chinese restaurant “The Dragon’s Pearl” at USJ will be available from June 30, 2025. The “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Mystery Walk ~Investigate the Mysterious All-Purpose Medicine~” will then begin the following day, July 1st. For more details, please visit the USJ information page.
