TV Anime Adaptation Announced for S-Rank Party kara Kaiko sareta “Jugushi”!
An Exciting New Adventure Fantasy is Coming to the Screen
Get ready, fantasy fans! Kodansha has officially announced that the popular manga series, S-Rank Party kara Kaiko sareta “Jugushi”: “Noroi no Item” shika Tsukuremasen ga, Sono Seinou wa Artifact-kyuu nari……! (which you might also know as I’m a Curse Crafter, and I Don’t Need an S-Rank Party!) is getting a television anime adaptation! This is fantastic news for readers who have been following the journey of the unique curse crafter, Gail Hamilton. The manga series that the anime will be based on kicked off its serialization on Kodansha’s Young Magazine Web back in September 2021. Written by LAgun and brought to life with art by Nishiki Ogawa, the series has built up quite a following. As of February 6, the tenth volume was released, and fans can look forward to the eleventh volume hitting shelves on June 6. The manga’s popularity is clear, boasting a cumulative 2.5 million copies in print across its volumes! From Web Novel to Light Novel to Anime!
Before becoming a manga, the story of S-Rank Party kara Kaiko sareta “Jugushi” began its life as a web novel. Author LAgun started penning the tale in January 2021, publishing it on the popular websites Shousetsuka ni Narou and Kakuyomu. The story also saw a light novel adaptation published by Hobby Japan under their HJ Novels label. The first three volumes of the light novel featured illustrations by Nishinoda and were released between February 2022 and March 2023. More recently, the fourth volume, with illustrations handled by Yoshitake, went on sale in July 2024. It’s quite a journey for this story, going from a web novel to multiple published formats before finally landing an anime!
What’s the Story About?
The series introduces us to Gail Hamilton, who holds the rather unusual job of a “curse crafter.” Despite his skills, he finds himself unceremoniously kicked out of his party, right after they reached the prestigious “S” rank in the Guild! His party believed he wasn’t contributing enough, failing to see the true value of his creations. What they didn’t realize is that Gail’s seemingly ominous cursed items pack the kind of punch typically only seen in holy relics or legendary gear! Now freed from his former companions, Gail decides to strike out on his own. Get ready to follow his adventures as he causes quite a stir with the weirdly useful and powerful curses he crafts!
