About the High-Octane World of 『MF Ghost』
For those who might not know, 『MF Ghost』 is a thrilling TV anime based on the manga by Shigeno Shuuichi, which was serialized in “Young Magazine” from 2017 to 2025. This series is set in the near future of the same universe as 『Initial D』, the legendary “Fastest Legend of the Public Roads” manga also serialized in “Young Magazine” from 1995 to 2013. 『MF Ghost』 depicts the “MFG” races, intense car battles held on actual public roads.
In this high-stakes competition, protagonist Katagiri Kanata takes on rivals driving the world’s top-tier, high-powered machines like Porsches, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris, all while piloting his relatively underpowered “Toyota 86GT”. The anime captivated audiences both in Japan and internationally with its portrayal of a weaker car performing giant-killings, its dynamic car race battles, and its unforgettable Eurobeat soundtrack used as insert songs. The 1st Season aired from October to December 2023, followed by the 2nd Season from October to December 2024. Fans can look forward to the 3rd Season, which is slated to broadcast in 2026.
