Massive Cosplay Event “acosta!” Coming to Umeda Chayamachi in Osaka! Featuring a Parade with Over 50 Cosplayers

Japan’s largest cosplay event, “acosta!”, is set to take place over two days, June 21st and 22nd, 2025. Titled “acosta! @ Umeda Chayamachi in Chayamachi Oshi Festival”, the event will use the entire Umeda Chayamachi area in Osaka as its venue and will include a spectacular parade featuring over 50 cosplayers.

“acosta!” is Japan’s biggest cosplay event, held monthly in various locations across the country, with an annual attendance exceeding 250,000 people. With 70% of participants being in their teens and twenties, it enjoys strong support, particularly among Generation Z.

This will be the fourth time “acosta! @ Umeda Chayamachi” is held. While attendees can enjoy photo sessions and interactions throughout the Umeda Chayamachi district, the event will also feature “CDEF,” a dance performance showcase by various cosplayer teams, held on a special stage within MBS (Mainichi Broadcasting System).

Additionally, a major highlight is the parade scheduled for June 21st at 2:00 PM. A section of the event area will be turned into a pedestrian zone where over 50 cosplayers and costumed characters will parade through the streets. This event is held concurrently with the “Chayamachi Oshi Festival,” one of Kansai’s largest fan events celebrating anime, dramas, and other “oshi” (favorite) content.
