The theatrical compilation Takopi no Genzai -Arigatou, Mata Ashita- has revealed its theme song, a new visual, and its main trailer ahead of its November 27, 2026 opening. The theme will be ‘Rabyuu’ (らびゅー), a newly written song by Tele, who also handled the ending theme for the streaming series. Comments from Tele and director Iino Shinya have also arrived, along with word that Mubic card advance tickets are on the way.
From streaming hit to theatrical compilation
Based on Taizan 5’s manga Takopi no Genzai, serialized on Shonen Jump+, the anime begins when Takopi, a Happy alien from Happy Planet, comes to Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl isolated at home and at school.
The anime was released in June 2025 as a streaming-only series and was not broadcast on terrestrial television, but it drew a major response. It won the top prize in the anime category at Filmarks Awards 2025 and received the Jury Award in the TV category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2026.
The compilation film re-edits all six streaming episodes for theaters and adds some new scenes. With its large screen and sound, it is designed to let audiences experience anew the story of Takopi and Shizuka, Marina, Higashi, and the others.
Tele returns with ‘Rabyuu’
Tele previously handled the streaming series’ ending theme, ‘Garasu no Sen’ (がらすの線). The artist writes, composes, and arranges all of their songs and has also successfully performed solo shows at Nippon Budokan and Yokohama Arena.
Regarding the new theme, Tele said the song was written for the girls who should have been loved, with the message that even the hell they are in now can someday be laughed off. The artist added that they have mixed feelings of gloom and anticipation about watching that pain on the big screen.
Main trailer and new visual
The main trailer includes some new cuts and shows the feelings carried by Shizuka, Marina, Higashi, and Takopi. Attention is also on how Tele’s theme ‘Rabyuu’ will color the theatrical story.
The new visual is drawn by character designer Nagahara Keita. Under the copy ‘Itsumo, hitori datta kimi-tachi e’ (‘To all of you who were always alone’), it depicts Shizuka, Marina, and Higashi standing in an after-school classroom without meeting each other’s eyes. The image also includes motifs that evoke their situations and feelings: doodles left on a desk, a damaged school bag, and Takopi resting against Shizuka’s shoulder.
Iino Shinya, who serves as director and series composition writer, thanked viewers who watched the streaming series and said that their warm response made the theatrical compilation release possible. He noted that the large screen, sound system, and the cinema itself offer an experience distinct from home viewing, and invited both those who have already seen the series and first-time viewers to come to theaters.
