ALL YOU NEED IS KILL Anime: Hanazawa Kana, Hikorohee, Mou Chuugakusei Join Cast for SF Light Novel Also Adapted into Hollywood Film

We’ve received the second round of cast information for the anime ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, based on the light novel by Sakurazaka Hiroshi, which was also adapted into a Hollywood film. Hanazawa Kana, Hikorohi, and Mouchuugakusei will be joining the cast.

Rita from ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

ALL YOU NEED IS KILL is an action fantasy SF anime produced by STUDIO4°C, a studio known for its unique presence in the Japanese animation industry. It’s based on Sakurazaka Hiroshi’s light novel, celebrated for its innovative time loop concept and powerful depiction of growth, which led to its Hollywood film adaptation. The original novel All You Need Is Kill followed the protagonist Keiji, who gains experience by repeating loops and struggling through repeated “deaths.” However, this anime adaptation will tell a new story with Rita as the protagonist.

Invaded by extraterrestrial life forms, Rita is trapped in a time loop, dying and returning to the morning of the same day. She continues to fight using her accumulated memories and experience as weapons, but misunderstood by everyone, her spirit is eroded by the seemingly endless battle.

At that moment, Keiji appears before her, a man who claims he is also repeating the same day. Will these two, brought together by fate, become the hope that can change their unending battle?

Now, the second wave of cast information for this work has been revealed. Hanazawa Kana, known for roles such as Kanroji Mitsuri in Kimetsu no Yaiba and Houshou Reiko in Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de, Hikorohi, active as an MC, actress, and scriptwriter, and comedian Mouchuugakusei will participate.

Rachel from ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

Hanazawa Kana will voice Shasta, who is engrossed in research on the “Darol”. Hikorohi will play Rachel, a volunteer worker, and Mouchuugakusei will voice Yonabaru, a jester-like character who teases Rita. Comments from each of them have also arrived.

The film has been selected for the “Midnight Special Section” at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025, held from June 8th, and is being screened there. Shasta is an intellectual female scientist with a firm grasp on her own world, yet she also has a relaxed vibe. She approaches the mystery of the repeating time with an unusually high level of excitement. I made sure to portray her detached nature and her enthusiasm for the unknown.

I haven’t seen the finished film yet, so I’m personally looking forward to seeing how it turned out!!!
