November 28th marks “Ii Tsuya no Hi” (Good Hair Luster Day), a unique commemorative day derived from a playful Japanese wordplay: “Ii” (good) sounds like “11” (November), and “Tsuya” (luster) sounds like “28”. It’s a perfect day to appreciate gorgeous locks!
For anime and manga characters, hair is often a defining feature, instantly recognizable and deeply tied to their personality and design. This time, we’re putting the spotlight on characters who sport wonderful braids. From classic styles with two bundles tied on the sides to ponytail variations with intricate weaving, or even elaborate buns created by wrapping braided strands, there’s a rich variety of enchanting arrangements to admire.
Anime! Anime! is excited to bring back a popular reader survey after approximately three years: “Which character with braids comes to mind?” We invite you to freely submit the characters you believe best fit this description.

- This survey is for characters appearing in 2D content, including anime (TV broadcast, films, streaming, OVA, etc.), games, CD series, and manga.
- Each person may submit only one response.
