Blockbuster Hit “Kingdom: Daishogun no Kikan” to Air for the First Time on Terrestrial TV!
It has been announced that the live-action movie “Kingdom: Daishogun no Kikan,” which became the biggest hit in the “Kingdom” series, will have its first terrestrial television broadcast on the Nippon Television Network Corporation’s movie program “Kin’you Road Show” on July 11, 2025. The fourth film in the series, which recorded a box office revenue of 80.3 billion JPY last year (making it the No. 1 live-action film of 2024), will be broadcast without cuts, starting an hour earlier than usual at 7:56 PM.
About the Kingdom Live-Action Series
“Kingdom” is a live-action film series based on Hara Yasuhisa’s manga of the same name, which has exceeded 110 million copies in total circulation. Set in China’s Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, it depicts the exploits of Shin, a war orphan dreaming of becoming a great general of the heavens, and Ei Sei, a young king aiming to unify China.
Despite being said to be impossible to adapt into live-action due to its grand scale, the total box office revenue for the four films released so far exceeds 24.5 billion JPY, making it an unprecedented mega-hit series. The director is Satou Shinsuke, known for works like “GANTZ,” “Toshokan Sensou,” and “I Am a Hero.”
Kingdom: Daishogun no Kikan – What to Expect
The fourth film in the series, “Kingdom: Daishogun no Kikan,” depicts the continuation of the “Bayou no Tatakai” (Battle of Bayou), where Shin and Ou Ki engaged in an all-out war against the neighboring state of Chou in the previous film “Unmei no Hono.”
Continuing from the previous work, Satou Shinsuke serves as director, Yamazaki Kento stars as the protagonist Shin, who aims to become a great general of the heavens, and Yoshizawa Ryou plays the role of the young King of Qin, Ei Sei, who challenges the unification of China.

Furthermore, the series features a returning lineup of essential and talented cast members, including Hashimoto Kanna as Karyou Ten, who diligently works as a military strategist apprentice; Seino Nana as Kyou Kai, who fights alongside Shin as the vice-captain of the Hishintai; Nagasawa Masami as You Tanwa, the beautiful queen with the greatest military might among the mountain tribes; and Oosawa Takao as General Ou Ki, who returns to the battlefield as the Qin army’s commander-in-chief to face the “Bayou no Tatakai.”

This film also features the appearance of formidable characters such as Kikkawa Kouji as the strongest enemy, Houken; Oguri Shun as the enigmatic strategist, Ri Boku; and from the previous film, Yamada Yuuki as Mankyoku and Yamamoto Kouji as Chou Sou, who troubled the Hishintai. A once-in-a-lifetime battle between “Qin vs Chou,” with the fate of their nations at stake, unfolds.
