The twelfth and final episode of the television anime recently wrapped up, and it came with a fantastic announcement: a second season is officially in the works! Mark your calendars, because this new chapter is set to premiere sometime in 2026.

The Original Light Novel

The story originates from a web novel penned by Sagazaki Shigeru. Sagazaki Shigeru began sharing this tale on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website back in November 2020. Later, Square Enix picked it up for publication under their SQEX Novel imprint, starting in April 2021. The light novel features illustrations by Nabeshima Tetsuhiro. The latest volume, the ninth, was released on March 27th.

The Manga Adaptation

Following the light novel’s success, a manga adaptation by Satou Kazuki launched in Young Champion magazine in August 2021. Akita Shoten is the publisher behind the manga volumes, with the seventh volume shipping on March 27th.

Bringing the Series to English Readers

Good news for fans outside of Japan too, as both the light novel and manga have been licensed for English release!

Light Novel in English

J-Novel Club licensed the light novel for English distribution in October 2023. They’ve been steadily releasing volumes, with the third volume coming out on May 15th, the sixth on January 15th, and the seventh volume scheduled for release on July 2nd.

Manga in English

Yen Press also stepped in, licensing the manga adaptation on March 29th. English readers can find the third volume which shipped on May 27th, while the fourth volume is set to go on sale on October 28th.
