Ranma 1/2 Season 2 Set for October 2025 Premiere, Reveals New Characters and Cast in First PV!

Great news for fans! The second season of the TV anime `Ranma 1/2` is officially set to broadcast on Nippon Television starting in October 2025. It will air sequentially across Nippon Television networks nationwide and will also be exclusively streamed on Netflix immediately after broadcast. Alongside this announcement, the first promotional video for the second season has been released. The PV also unveils additional characters and their voice actors, including Seki Toshihiko as Mousse, Nazuka Kaori as Kuonji Ukyou, Inoue Kazuhiko as Happousai, Mayama Ako as Cologne, and Ishida Akira as Gosunkugi Hikaru.

About Ranma 1/2

`Ranma 1/2` is a high-energy martial arts romantic comedy based on the hugely popular manga by Takahashi Rumiko, serialized in “Weekly Shounen Sunday” from issue 36 in 1987 to issue 12 in 1996. Takahashi Rumiko is also renowned for other beloved works like `Urusei Yatsura`, `Maison Ikkoku`, `Inuyasha`, `Kyoukai no RINNE`, and `MAO`.

The story kicks off when Saotome Genma and his son Ranma, who have been training in China, arrive at the Tendou family home. However, instead of Ranma, a giant panda and a cute girl appear! Through their training in China, Ranma developed a peculiar condition where splashing cold water turns him into a girl, and hot water turns him back into a boy. The series follows Ranma and the uniquely eccentric people around them as they navigate life, experiencing laughter, tears, and sometimes, even romance.

This “completely new anime series” (meaning a new adaptation, not a continuation of the original anime’s story) began airing in October 2024 and garnered significant attention, partly due to the original cast members reprising their roles. The production of a second season was announced immediately after the broadcast of the 12th episode.

Exciting Announcement Event

The latest news was revealed at the official series event, “Great Delight Anime Announcement Event,” held on June 22, 2025. The event featured appearances by Yamaguchi Kappei (Ranma), Hayashibara Megumi (Ranma), Hidaka Noriko (Tendou Akane), and Sakuma Rei (Shampoo). It kicked off with a live voice-over performance looking back at the first season. The audience was absolutely thrilled by the impressive live performances from the legendary voice actors right before their eyes. Following greetings from each guest, the event moved into the highly anticipated section for the second season’s new information.

First Promotional Video Unveiled

The first PV for the second season begins with Mousse’s memorable line, “Tendou Akane…… 乱馬をおびき寄せるエサになってもらうだ” (Tendou Akane… you’ll become the bait to lure Ranma out). The video then cycles through footage of the new characters appearing in the second season—Mousse, Kuonji Ukyou, Happousai, Cologne, and Gosunkugi Hikaru—showcasing their visuals along with snippets of their voices and cast names. In the latter half, the background music shifts, and characters from the first season also make appearances in various exciting scenes. The PV truly builds anticipation for the stories that will unfold in the second season!

New Characters & Cast Revealed

In addition to the PV, the cast for the additional characters joining in the second season was revealed. The cast from the first season will be reprising their roles, and they will be joined by Seki Toshihiko as Mousse, Nazuka Kaori as Kuonji Ukyou, Inoue Kazuhiko as Happousai, Mayama Ako as Cologne, and Ishida Akira as Gosunkugi Hikaru.

The end of the PV also confirmed the broadcast and streaming details. Just like the first season, Uda Kounosuke will serve as the director, and MAPPA will be handling the animation production, with other staff information also provided.

Event Highlights

During the event, following the PV screening, Seki Toshihiko, the voice of Mousse, made a surprise appearance as a secret guest! In the special announcement PV for the second season released in December 2024, Mousse’s voice was included at the very end without revealing the actor’s name, leading to much speculation immediately after its release that it might be Seki Toshihiko. His appearance served as a delightful confirmation, further electrifying the venue.

Adding to the excitement, Seki-san even performed Mousse’s lines live during the talk segment, drawing thunderous applause from the audience. After this, the cast briefly left the stage for a special pre-screening of “Episode 23 – Part A” from the second season of the anime. Upon returning to the stage after the screening, the cast shared their impressions of the episode they had just watched. The event concluded with each guest expressing their anticipation for the second season and sharing messages for the fans.
