What’s the Story About?
Curious about the plot? The series follows Youki, a man who, after a traffic accident, finds himself reborn in a fantasy world. But instead of becoming the legendary hero, he’s reincarnated as an incredibly powerful demon! With no ambition to rule as the Demon Lord, he spends his days as a rather ordinary low-ranking guardian in the Demon Lord’s castle.
His quiet life changes one day when the Hero’s party arrives to attack. On a whim, Youki takes them all down. However, after healing them up and preparing to send them back, he spots the female priest among the group and is instantly smitten. Love at first sight strikes, leading to a rather unique romance!
Source Material Background
The story of Yuusha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Ita node, Kokuhaku shitemita. began its life as a web novel written by Suisei, starting back in July 2013 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. Futabasha later picked it up for light novel publication under their Monster Bunko imprint in October 2024 (Note: Date seems unusual based on light novel final volume date, but this is what the source says), featuring illustrations by La-na. The light novel series concluded with its third volume, which was released in August 2015.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Kairi based on Suisei’s work, started its serialization in Futabasha’s Manga Gaugau in January 2021. As of late March, the 11th volume of the manga was released, with the 12th volume planned for a late July release.
