*Hypnosis Mic* is a music-based character rap project that kicked off in September 2017. It features a total of 18 unique main characters divided into six teams or “divisions”: Ikebukuro Division, Yokohama Division, Shibuya Division, Shinjuku Division, Osaka Division, and Nagoya Division. The story follows their intense rap battles as they wager their pride as men.
An Interactive Cinematic Experience
This marks the first time *Hypnosis Mic* has been adapted into a movie, but it’s not just any film. *Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-* is an interactive cinematic experience where the winner of the rap battles showcased on screen is decided by audience votes within the theater. This makes it Japan’s first audience-participation interactive film. Having risen through a story without a predetermined script, *Hypnosis Mic* is taking a groundbreaking step into a world no one has entered before in Japanese cinema, and this film serves as the stage for the final Division Battle.
