“Dialect” Characters: Which one comes to mind? Poll Deadline July 16

“方言”キャラといえば?

July 28th is “Naniwa Day”.

This day was established by Oosaka-shi Naniwa-ku, based on the goroawase (a wordplay where numbers represent sounds) of “Na (7) Ni (2) Wa (8)”.

Anime often features characters who speak various regional dialects, especially Kansai-ben. These dialects, with their distinct sounds and rhythms compared to standard Japanese, give works a unique flow and really highlight a character’s personality. Many fans probably have a favorite character who speaks in dialect!

Who’s Your Favorite Dialect Character? Anime! Anime! Poll is Back!

That’s why Anime! Anime! is bringing back its annual reader poll titled, “Who’s Your Favorite Dialect Character?”. Tell us which character and title you think best fits, in a free-response format.

※Eligible characters are those appearing in 2D content such as anime works (TV broadcast, movies, streaming, OVA, etc.), games, CD series, and manga.
※Please limit your response to one per person.
Basic information like gender and age are optional fields, and you can participate without answering them. Everyone is welcome to join!

The deadline is July 16th. We will publish the results as soon as they are compiled. Look forward to it!
