This day was established by Oosaka-shi Naniwa-ku, based on the goroawase (a wordplay where numbers represent sounds) of “Na (7) Ni (2) Wa (8)”.
Anime often features characters who speak various regional dialects, especially Kansai-ben. These dialects, with their distinct sounds and rhythms compared to standard Japanese, give works a unique flow and really highlight a character’s personality. Many fans probably have a favorite character who speaks in dialect!
