Hey anime fans! Big news dropped for the upcoming adaptation of Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! (which you might also know as *A Wild Last Boss Appeared!*). At the Anime Expo 2025, during a panel hosted by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, we got a reveal of additional cast members and some key staff joining the production team. Bringing the World to Life: Key Staff and Studio
The production is in good hands! Directing the anime at studio WAO World is Horiuchi Yuuya, known for directing Nijiyon Animation. The series composition, which shapes the overall story structure, is handled by Fudeyasu Kazuyuki, who has worked on series like Black Clover. Designing the characters to match the world is Ebisawa Maiko, an animation director who contributed to Undead Unluck.
Origin Story: The Source Material
Curious about where Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! comes from? The series began its life as a web novel penned by Firehead on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website back in October 2015. Earth Star Entertainment later picked it up for publication under their Earth Star Novel imprint starting in February 2016, featuring illustrations by YahaKo. The light novel wrapped up with its ninth and final volume released in April 2019.
But that’s not all! A manga adaptation, illustrated by Hazuki Tsubasa, started running in Comic Earth☆Star magazine in June 2017. The latest volume of the manga, volume 10, was released on February 12.
Licensing for English Readers
Good news for international fans! J-Novel Club has licensed both the light novel and the manga series for digital release in English. They began releasing the light novel digitally in April 2020, with the ninth and final volume becoming available in July 2022. The manga adaptation followed suit, starting its digital English release in January 2021, and its sixth volume was released on June 18.
