New Uchuu Senkan Yamato Merchandise Launches from COSPA
Get ready, Uchuu Senkan Yamato fans! Official character apparel and goods brand “COSPA” is releasing a lineup of new T-shirts and bags based on the legendary series. Two types of T-shirts and two types of bags are currently available for pre-order on the “COSPA” mail order website and other retailers.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato began with its first TV series broadcast from October 1974 to March 1975, and since then, numerous TV series, theatrical films, and even a live-action film have been produced. As a monumental work of SF anime that continues to inspire new creations, it remains deeply loved by many.
From July 19th to August 3rd, 2025, the Osaka venue for the “Uchuu Senkan Yamato Full Record Exhibition,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of its broadcast, will be held at Namba Skyo 7F Convention Hall in Osaka. This exhibition is planned and produced by Anno Hideaki, who states that “without encountering Uchuu Senkan Yamato, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” With the cooperation of the “Anime Tokusatsu Archive Center (ATAC),” valuable never-before-seen materials will be on display at the venue.
Starting with the legendary planning document from the series’ inception, various setting designs, original drawings, background art, animation cels, and other intermediate production materials will be unveiled, following the 296,000 light-year journey depicted over the 26 episodes of the TV series. Visitors can re-experience the work and feel the charm of the origins of this masterpiece that laid the foundation for anime history.
Among the new goods from COSPA, the T-shirt lineup includes two designs: one featuring Captain Okita Juuzou’s famous line, “**Bakame to Itte Yare**” (You Fool, Tell Them That), perfect for when unreasonable demands are made, and another showcasing the full view of the Yamato itself, a durable shirt that can be loved for a long time.
The bags, designed to be as durable as the Yamato, come in two varieties: a **Shoulder Tote** with a snap button closure and an inner pocket, also capable of being worn cross-body, and a **Large Tote** with ample capacity that’s great for use as an eco-bag. The prices, including tax, are 3,300 yen each for the **Uchuu Senkan Yamato T-Shirt** and the **Okita Juuzou “Bakame to Itte Yare” T-Shirt**. The **Uchuu Senkan Yamato Shoulder Tote** is 2,200 yen, and the **Uchuu Senkan Yamato Large Tote** is 1,980 yen. Pre-orders are currently open on the “COSPA” mail order site and other retailers, with all items scheduled for release in early October 2025.
