“WILD TIGER Special Birthday Party” Kicks Off with a Roar!
The “WILD TIGER Special Birthday Party,” an event celebrating the birthday of the beloved hero Wild Tiger from the anime TIGER & BUNNY 2, was held on August 9, 2025. This year marked the fourth consecutive celebration of his special day, and just like last year, it was a grand, full-fledged party experience. Both the daytime and evening sessions treated guests to exquisite original collaboration menus, specially crafted by the prestigious Hotel New Otani.
An Engaging Afternoon Party with Surprises
The Afternoon Party began in a truly warm and welcoming atmosphere, graced by the presence of Hirata Hiroaki-san, the voice of Kaburagi T. Kotetsu.
One of the most popular highlights, drawing excited comments like “It’s fun even before entering the venue!”, was the “KOTETSU GALLERY.” As attendees stepped in, they were met with an outpouring of cheers, feeling as though they were being watched over by 12 distinct renditions of Kotetsu-san, each representing a different era from the series’ history.
The “KOTETSU MEMORY” exhibition, packed with a rich variety of displays, offered such a comprehensive look back at Kotetsu-san’s past achievements that even Hirata-san himself exclaimed, “There’s not enough time! I want to take a slower, more thorough look!!”
Wild Tiger made his grand entrance into the venue, heralded by enthusiastic shouts of “Wild Tiger!” from the “Sternbild Citizens” – the endearing nickname for the dedicated fans gathered there. Following Hirata Hiroaki-san’s vibrant call of “Wild Tiger! Happy Birthday!!”, the citizens responded with a resounding “Omedetou!” (Congratulations!), igniting a powerful celebratory mood throughout the hall as the photo session began.
During the photo session breaks, guests savored the delightful collaboration sweets with Hotel New Otani, aptly named “~Colorful Sweets Where Heroes Gather~.” It was a truly satisfying experience that pleased both their taste buds and their eyes.
As the Afternoon Party neared its conclusion, a delightful surprise awaited everyone: Kusunoki Taiten-san (voicing Rock Bison / Antonio Lopez) and Okamoto Nobuhiko-san (voicing Origami Cyclone / Ivan Karelin), who were slated to appear at the Dinner Party alongside Hirata Hiroaki-san and Wild Tiger, made an unexpected appearance! Their sudden arrival elicited numerous gasps of astonishment from the crowd. As they departed, Wild Tiger reciprocated the abundant blessings by personally handing each citizen a newly taken bromide photo as a special gift. The Afternoon Party concluded successfully, enveloped in a wonderfully warm and celebratory ambiance.
An Unforgettable Dinner Party Filled with Laughter and Memories
The Dinner Party was brimming with a rich variety of engaging segments, including a nostalgic look back at famous scenes from across the series and an entertaining quiz corner.
An original dramatic reading, specially written by Nishida Masafumi-san, was also performed, making it a night where every attendee felt truly immersed in the vibrant world of Sternbild.
The Dinner Party began with a flourish, expertly emceed by Okamoto Nobuhiko-san, followed by the appearance of Hirata Hiroaki-san and Kusunoki Taiten-san. Then, as the final special guest, Iwasaki Hiroshi-san — the voice of the beloved mechanic “Saitou-san,” who always supports Wild Tiger in the series — also graced the stage. The venue erupted in laughter at Iwasaki-san’s uncanny portrayal of Saitou-san’s characteristic mumbling. Subsequently, Iwasaki-san donned a special item: the “Saitou-san Exclusive Helmet with Megaphone.” His subsequent self-introduction, delivered in a dramatically loud and clear voice, resonated brightly through the venue, paving the way for the star of the night, Wild Tiger, who appeared to the attendees’ excited calls of “Wild Tiger!”. As the cheers swelled, a heartfelt toast was made to celebrate Tiger-san.
In the “Looking Back at Famous Scenes” corner, the cast reminisced about fascinating behind-the-scenes stories. These included anecdotes about the exquisitely timed, manzai-like comedic exchanges between Hirata Hiroaki-san and Kusunoki Taiten-san, as well as recording episodes related to Saitou-san’s unique subtitle lines, truly bringing the atmosphere of those memorable times back to life.
In a special corner dedicated to Origami Cyclone, a “hide-and-seek” game was creatively recreated, featuring Origami Cyclone subtly “photobombing” various scenes, much like his signature appearances in the show. The entire venue buzzed with excitement as everyone enthusiastically searched for glimpses of Origami Cyclone appearing discreetly in the background while Wild Tiger toured different spots around Hotel New Otani.
In the dramatic reading, set at the “Wild Tiger’s All-Purpose Consulting Office,” the comical interactions that offered a charming glimpse into the heroes’ daily lives instantly pulled the previously celebratory audience deep into the world of TIGER & BUNNY. At the conclusion of this captivating reading, the loudest and most heartfelt applause of the day reverberated throughout the venue.
Following the reading, Nishida Masafumi-san, the series composition, scriptwriter, and story director who penned this very special script, took to the stage. He appeared deeply moved by the immense love for TIGER & BUNNY evident throughout the venue, and by the sheer perfection of the dramatic reading, which, magnificently enhanced by the star-studded cast, felt far too complete and wonderful to be limited to just this one event. Finally, the attending cast and the enthusiastic audience joined in a resounding “Wild ni Hoeru ze!” (Let’s howl wildly!) call, bringing the sensational event to a successful and roaring close.
Upcoming Celebration: BARNABY Special Birthday Party 2025
Following Wild Tiger’s fantastic celebration, it has been officially decided that the “BARNABY Special Birthday Party 2025” will be held on October 25 at the “Tsuru no Ma” hall of Hotel New Otani Tokyo! The first pre-order phase for tickets has already commenced. The attending cast for this highly anticipated event will include Morita Masakazu-san (voicing Barnaby Brooks Jr.), Kotobuki Minako-san (voicing Blue Rose / Karina Lyle), Hidaka Rina-san (voicing Kaburagi Kaede), Yusa Kouji-san (voicing Lunatic / Yuri Petrov), Sakaguchi Shuuhei-san (voicing Mattia Ingram), and scriptwriter Yoshida Erika-san.
