It’s almost a month since the 2025 Summer anime season began. Beyond the main story, TV anime theme songs are also a huge draw, encapsulating the entire world of a series into a captivating 90-second segment. This season, a diverse array of fantastic songs has graced our screens. But which theme songs have truly captured the hearts of fans?
To find out, Anime!Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Which 2025 Summer Anime Theme Song Do You Like Best?”. During the survey period from July 30th to August 5th, we received responses from 106 participants. The gender ratio was approximately 40% male and 60% female, with a slight majority of female respondents. Regarding age groups, roughly 40% were under 19, and about 35% were in their 20s, indicating a strong presence from younger fans. In this article, we’re excited to announce the results for the Opening (OP) themes!

The Story Kicks Off with a Collection of Masterpiece OPs!
First Place
Securing the top spot is Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun 2 (Sequel), garnering approximately 12% of the votes.

The OP theme for this series is, Ooishi Masayoshi-san’s “Kagome Kagome”. Fans raved, “True to Ooishi-san, who has handled the OP themes throughout the series, he once again skillfully blends the world of Hanako-kun into the lyrics and melody. The part where the ‘Kagome Kagome’ phrase plays gives me goosebumps!” Another comment praised it for making them “imagine what kind of story will unfold this season, and it wonderfully conveys the atmosphere of the characters. It makes me even more curious about what happens next.” The song received high praise for perfectly complementing the series.
Second Place
Tying for second place are Kanojo, Okarishimasu 4-ki and Ruri no Houseki, both securing approximately 7% of the votes.

The OP theme for Kanojo, Okarishimasu is, ClariS’s “Umitsuki”. Readers shared comments like, “The fairy tale-like visuals combined with ClariS’s crystal-clear singing voice completely drew me into the world of the story,” and “This is the first anime song for the reborn ClariS with their three-member lineup, and the transparency perfectly suits ‘Kanokari.’ It’s truly amazing how they create masterpieces no matter what work they collaborate with,” showing support for the artists’ new beginning.
Meanwhile, the OP theme for Ruri no Houseki is, Yasuda Rei-san’s “Hikari no Sumika”.

“Her fantastical singing voice is as if a mineral, born over tens of thousands of years, is speaking a message from Earth. It deeply resonated with my heart,” and “While depicting a journey of mineral collection, not only the beauty of the minerals but also the magnificent natural scenery like rivers and caves are impressive. The song made me feel the very breath of the Earth, which was truly moving.” These comments highlight how the song beautifully expresses the theme of the series.
Introducing Other Noteworthy Comments!
For Okazaki Taiiku-san’s “Suffer” from Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara, one fan exclaimed, “I was surprised by the unexpected lyrics, which take a sudden turn from a cool intro to singing about the physical ailments typical of middle age. It truly captured my heart in many ways.”
Regarding DA PUMP’s “Osomatsu-san no Bomba Hee!” from Osomatsu-san, a comment praised, “The upbeat tempo and cheerful lyrics, fully embodying the ‘Osomatsu’ spirit, are simply the best! The OP animation, showing the sextuplets surrounded by swimsuit beauties to DA PUMP’s rhythm, is just brilliant.”
For Shounan no Kaze feat. Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders’s “Seishun Eien” from Grand Blue Season 2, a fan shared, “Following the first season, Shounan no Kaze once again brings intense excitement to Grand Blue! With Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders joining in, the sense of youthfulness is doubled!! Another masterpiece perfect for summer has been born.”
And for Tenrougun’s “Super Big Love!” from Bad Girl, one viewer noted, “The OP animation is packed with the cuteness typical of a Kirara anime. The dance moves are sharp from the beginning! The exhilarating feeling of a full-speed dash at the end is simply irresistible.” Votes were cast for a wide range of titles, showcasing diverse tastes!
This season also saw theme songs from various genres like comedy, horror, and action make it into the rankings. Titles with OP animations that perfectly synchronize with the song were particularly popular. Stay tuned, as we’ll be announcing the results for the Ending (ED) themes next time!
