Animation studio Madhouse, known for their stunning work on popular series like Sousou no Frieren and Chi. -Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite-, will be at the helm of this exciting project. LIAR GAME, serialized in “Weekly Young Jump” from 2005 to 2015, is a masterful suspense manga created by Kaiya Shinobu. This gripping narrative fearlessly delves into the light and shadow of human psychology, using “lies” and “strategy” to craft a story that has captivated readers worldwide for two decades since its serialization began. It has firmly established itself as a monumental work in the “brain battle” and “psychological suspense” genres.
The series has consistently generated buzz through various media adaptations, including a live-action drama that aired in 2007, live-action films released starting in 2010, and even a stage play performed in 2023.
Marking the 20th anniversary since its serialization began, this long-awaited TV anime adaptation is being brought to life by Madhouse, the acclaimed studio behind hits like Sousou no Frieren and Chi. -Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite-. The production features Satou Yuuzou as Chief Director, Kawano Asami as Director, Urahata Tatsuhiko handling series composition and script, Tsuchiya Kei on character design, and Koizumi Kisuke as Sound Director. Every intricate detail – from the cunningly woven mysteries and the ultimate psychological battles that expose the core of human nature, to the story of an honest participant and a former genius con artist challenging a game full of liars – will be depicted in this brand-new animation.

It’s been exactly 20 years this year since LIAR GAME began its serialization in “Weekly Young Jump,” and I’m thrilled to announce its anime adaptation on this monumental occasion.
At the time, I started the serialization with the theme of “the importance of believing.” Twenty years later, with the COVID-19 pandemic and the dramatic evolution of social media, it’s become an even more challenging world to trust people.
In such a time, here comes the LIAR GAME anime.
Whether you feel nostalgic or have never read it before, I’m sure it will resonate deeply with your heart.

I distinctly remember how incredibly popular the LIAR GAME drama adaptation was. It’s surprising how 18 years have already passed since then… I guess I’m getting older too.
I previously had the pleasure of working with Kaiya-sensei when ONE OUTS was animated, and now, by fate, I get to be involved in the anime adaptation of his iconic work, LIAR GAME.
I have fond memories of enjoying my work on ONE OUTS, and it would be wonderful if I could enjoy making this one just as much. I’ll do my best!
