Originally a massive hit on the Chinese video streaming platform “bilibili,” where it garnered over 100 million views, Hasan Fugou The Richest Man in GAME is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud comedy anime based on the outrageous premise that “the poorer you get, the richer you become.” Now, a Japanese dubbed version is ready to bring this hilarious adventure to a new audience!

The story follows Pei Chen, a downtrodden office worker who suddenly finds himself time-leaping back to his university days. There, he encounters a mysterious entity calling itself “Richest,” who offers him a “chance to become rich.” Naturally, Pei Chen is ecstatic at the prospect of escaping his miserable life as a corporate slave. However, Richest presents him with a peculiar condition: “Start a business challenge with the funds provided. The more losses your business incurs, the more your personal assets will increase!”

Thus begins Pei Chen’s desperate and comical journey into the high-risk game industry, where he tries his absolute best to generate massive losses. But, as fate would have it, his business endeavors take an entirely unexpected turn. The Japanese dubbed version features a stellar main cast including Ono Kensho, Okamoto Nobuhiko, and Fukuyama Jun, bringing their incredible talents to these unique characters.

Episode 1 “Unmei no Time Leap” Synopsis

Our story begins with Pei Chen, an uninspired office worker, stuck late at night, forced into unreasonable overtime by his boss. He feels powerless to resist. Suddenly, the screen of his smartphone emits a blinding light, and when he comes to, he finds himself inexplicably transported back to his university days!

Confused by his sudden time leap, Pei Chen is soon confronted by a mysterious character introducing itself as the “Asset Conversion System,” or simply “Richest.” This enigmatic entity proposes to provide Pei Chen with funds, offering him an unprecedented opportunity to become rich.

Overjoyed at the prospect of finally becoming wealthy, Pei Chen’s excitement is soon tempered as he learns that achieving this dream comes with a very specific, and highly unusual, condition.

A Ruthless Newcomer: SugiTA Tomokazu Joins the Cast!

Adding another layer of excitement, it has been revealed that the incredibly talented SugiTA Tomokazu will be joining the cast as a new character surrounding the protagonist, Pei Chen. SugiTA-san is renowned for his iconic roles such as SakaTA Gintoki in Gintama and Sakamoto Tarou in SAKAMOTO DAYS, among many other hit series.

He will be lending his voice to Rii Shii, the president of a major corporation who relentlessly pursues business acquisitions with the ultimate goal of monopolizing the game market. Rii Shii possesses a ruthless personality, quick to fire anyone who doesn’t align with his intentions. It will be fascinating to see how Rii Shii’s formidable presence intertwines with Pei Chen’s bizarre business challenge!

The first episode of the autumn anime Hasan Fugou The Richest Man in GAME, “Unmei no Time Leap,” will broadcast on October 1st (Wednesday) at 25:15 (effectively October 2nd, 1:15 AM JST) on Fuji Television and bilibili’s anime slot “B8station.”
