“Ranma 1/2”: Akane, Shampoo in Idol Outfits, Plus Jusenkyou and Neko Hanten Souvenirs!? New Items Rolling Out!

From the TV Anime Ranma 1/2, a new “China x Idol Ver.” series featuring specially drawn illustrations of Ranma, Akane, and Shampoo in idol costumes is here! Plus, items inspired by Jusenkyou and Neko Hanten are also making their debut!

TV Anime Ranma 1/2 is a martial arts romantic comedy by Takahashi Rumiko, known for works like Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Inuyasha, Kyoukai no RINNE, and MAO. The manga was serialized in “Weekly Shounen Sunday” from 1987 to 1996. While it was first adapted into an anime in 1989, a completely new anime series began airing in October 2024. The new adaptation is creating a buzz as it features the returning voice cast from the 1989 version:

• Saotome Ranma: Yamaguchi Kappei
• Ranma: Hayashibara Megumi
• Tendou Akane: Hidaka Noriko
• Shampoo: Sakuma Rei

The second season of the new series is scheduled to air nationwide starting October 4, 2025, on the Nippon TV network.

The story begins when Genma Saotome and his son Ranma, who have been training in China, arrive at the Tendou household. However, what appears before them is a giant panda and a cute girl. Ranma, as a result of his training in China, has acquired a peculiar constitution: he turns into a girl when doused with cold water and reverts to a man with hot water. Thus, Ranma and the unique individuals around him get caught up in a series of events, laughing, crying, and sometimes even falling in love.

Now, Ranma, Akane, and Shampoo are making their appearance in idol outfits as the newly drawn “China x Idol Ver.” This new line of merchandise comes from COSPA, a company that develops official character costumes, apparel, and goods.

The “China x Idol Ver.” collection includes popular items such as large acrylic stands, eye-catching 65mm can badges, outdoor stickers perfect for cars and bikes, and 120cm big towels for everyday use.

Furthermore, items inspired by the legendary training ground “Jusenkyou” from the series are also available, including a “Jusenkyou T-Shirt,” a “Jusenkyou ni Ittekimashita (I Went to Jusenkyou) Eco Bag,” and a “Jusenkyou Omiyage (Souvenir) Towel” wrapped in special noshigami.

Additionally, fans can look forward to the “Neko Hanten T-Shirt,” designed to resemble the staff uniform from Shampoo’s family restaurant, a “Neko Hanten Ramen Donburi” where Shampoo appears at the bottom of the bowl, and a “Ranma to P-chan T-Shirt” featuring a cute design of Ranma and P-chan.

These items are scheduled to be released from early December at the COSPA online store, official COSPA shops, and other retailers. Pre-orders are currently open.
