About Kaijuu 8-gou

Kaijuu 8-gou is a popular manga series by Matsumoto Naoya, which began serialization in Shueisha’s “Shounen Jump+” app in July 2020. The story unfolds in a world where kaijuu (monsters) routinely threaten humanity. The protagonist, Hibino Kafka, harbors a dream of joining the “Japan Defense Force” tasked with defeating these formidable beasts. However, after encountering a mysterious small kaijuu, he transforms into a powerful kaijuu himself, earning the moniker “Kaijuu 8-gou.” Despite being hunted across Japan, Kafka refuses to abandon his dream of becoming a Defense Force member, continuing to fight against kaijuu disasters.

In 2021, the series exploded in popularity after being ranked #1 in the Web Manga category of the “Next Manga Award 2021.” The first season of the TV anime adaptation aired in April 2024, captivating audiences worldwide. Following the manga’s conclusion, the highly anticipated second season of the TV anime premiered on July 19, 2025.
