`Cardcaptor Sakura` first enchanted readers in the monthly shoujo manga magazine `Nakayoshi`, running from the June 1996 issue to the August 2000 issue. The story follows the spirited `Kinomoto Sakura`, who transforms into a `Cardcaptor` to retrieve the mystical `Clow Cards`, which threaten to unleash disaster upon the world. The original manga was compiled into 12 volumes, with a re-edited `Nakayoshi` 60th Anniversary Edition collecting the story into 9 volumes. The series received its first anime adaptation, broadcast on NHK from 1998 to 2000. The first and second seasons covered the `Clow Card-hen` arc, while the third season adapted the `Sakura Card-hen` arc, bringing Sakura’s magical adventures to life on screen.
Following a 16-year hiatus, a brand new chapter, `Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card-hen`, began its serialization in 2016 to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary. This exciting continuation, spanning seven and a half years and 80 chapters, concluded with 16 volumes.
