October 26th is known as ‘Denim Day’.
The name comes from a clever goroawase (a Japanese wordplay based on pronunciations) where ‘De (10) Nimu (26)’ sounds like ‘denim’. It was established by the Kojima Jeans Street Promotion Council in Okayama Prefecture.
This sturdy cotton fabric, denim, is widely cherished as synonymous with jeans and has become an indispensable fashion item for anime and game characters alike. From students enjoying their youth in casual jeans to heroes battling in rugged denim jackets, and artists rocking wild, ripped jeans, the ways characters are depicted wearing denim are incredibly diverse and always eye-catching.
That’s why Anime!Anime! is excited to launch a new reader survey titled “Who are your favorite ‘denim’ characters?”. We invite you to tell us your top picks for characters and their respective series in a free-response format.
Please note: Eligible characters must appear in 2D content, including anime (TV broadcast, films, streaming, OVA, etc.), games, CD series, and manga.
Each person is kindly asked to submit only one response.
Basic information such as gender and age are optional fields, and you are welcome to leave them blank. Feel free to participate!
The deadline for submissions is October 18th. We will publish the survey results as soon as they are compiled. Please look forward to it!
