The annual event “Gegegeki,” held around November 30th (the death anniversary of manga artist Mizuki Shigeru, who passed away in 2015) in Chofu, the beloved town where Mizuki-sensei lived for over 50 years and where “Mizuki Manga was born,” is back again this year! Exciting news has just been released regarding event merchandise and a special illustration for the movie Kitarou Tanjou Gegege no Nazo, specifically created for “Gegegeki 2025.”

About the Gegegeki Event

“Gegegeki” is an event dedicated to honoring the incredible legacy of Mizuki-sensei, who brought countless beloved works into the world, such as Gegege no Kitarou and Akumakun. Since 2016, this cherished event has been held annually, primarily in locations across Chofu City that hold special significance to Mizuki-sensei. It’s proudly organized by Chofu City, with immense cooperation from Mizuki Productions, Toei Animation, and many other dedicated partners.

Marking its 10th anniversary, this year’s “Gegegeki 2025” promises an engaging lineup from November 18th (Tuesday) to November 30th (Sunday), 2025. Fans of Mizuki-sensei’s works can look forward to a diverse range of activities, including special screenings, exciting talk shows, and an interactive stamp rally, all designed to immerse visitors in the world of his creations.
