About TAMA&FRIENDS ~Uchi no TAMA Shirimasen ka?~
TAMA&FRIENDS made its debut in 1983 as an original stationery and merchandise series from Sony Creative Products, riding the wave of the fancy goods boom among junior high and high school girls. It quickly gained popularity with its iconic catchphrase, “Uchi no TAMA Shirimasen ka?” (Don’t you know my Tama?), accompanied by charming posters featuring a lost cat. Throughout the 80s, the series was serialized in school magazines, and in the 90s, it expanded with theatrical films and TV anime broadcasts, leading to the growth of Tama and his companions to what we know today as TAMA&FRIENDS. With its familiar presence on the covers of learning workbooks, Tama and his friends have become cherished characters across generations.
