About Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan-
Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan- (which can be translated as “Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story”) is a beloved manga series by Watsuki Nobuhiro, which began its serialization in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) in 1994. The story is set in Japan during the early Meiji era, following the journey of Himura Kenshin, a former “Hitokiri Battousai” (manslayer) who once struck terror into the hearts of men during the turbulent Bakumatsu period.
Having firmly forbidden himself from taking lives, this wandering rurounin finds himself repeatedly drawn into battles against formidable adversaries to protect his newfound companions and the innocent people around him.
The series first received an anime adaptation in 1996, captivating audiences with its thrilling sword fights and compelling characters. In 2023, a brand new anime adaptation began airing, reigniting the flame for both long-time fans and new viewers. Furthermore, a new arc, Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan- Kyouto Douran (which can be translated as “Kyoto Disturbance”), was broadcast for two consecutive cours starting October 2024, continuing Kenshin‘s epic tale.

The knife’s design brilliantly replicates the aesthetic of a Japanese sword, from its handle to its overall shape. The blade itself features a sleek matte black fluorocarbon coating, meticulously applied to mimic the appearance of a traditional hamon (temper line). However, rest assured, this is a fully functional kitchen knife with the actual cutting edge positioned correctly, so there’s no need to handle it in reverse like Kenshin‘s sword!
