Koukaku Kidoutai S.A.C. Teams Up with Manhattan Portage for Stylish Bag Collection!
The beloved TV anime series, Koukaku Kidoutai S.A.C., is joining forces with the iconic fashion brand Manhattan Portage to launch an exclusive collection of three unique bags! These highly anticipated collaboration items are currently available for pre-order on the Shoukakukan Hyakkaten (Shogakukan Department Store) online shop, with reservations kicking off on October 30, 2025.
The Enduring Legacy of Koukaku Kidoutai
Shirou Masamune’s seminal sci-fi manga, Koukaku Kidoutai, first serialized in “Young Magazine Zoukan Kaizokuban” in 1989, quickly garnered immense popularity for its intricate world-building and philosophical themes. Its success led to multiple acclaimed adaptations over the years. This includes the internationally celebrated 1995 film GHOST IN THE SHELL/Koukaku Kidoutai, the 26-episode TV anime series Koukaku Kidoutai STAND ALONE COMPLEX (S.A.C.) which began airing in 2002, the four-part 2013 film series Koukaku Kidoutai ARISE, and even the 2017 Hollywood live-action film “Ghost in the Shell” starring Scarlett Johansson.
The future for the franchise is also bright, with Science SARU announced in April 2025 to be producing a new TV anime, Koukaku Kidoutai THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, slated for broadcast in 2026. Adding to the excitement, a large-scale exhibition titled “Koukaku Kidoutai-ten Ghost and the Shell,” encompassing all anime series, is set to open in January 2026 at Toranomon Hills in Tokyo.
