The Heartwarming Story of Gotoubun no Hanayome
Authored by Haruba Negi, the romantic comedy Gotoubun no Hanayome (which can be translated as “The Quintessential Quintuplets”) was serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine until February 2020. The story follows Uesugi Fuutarou, a top-performing student who takes on the daunting task of tutoring the beautiful Nakano quintuplets, who are all on the verge of failing their classes. His mission? To guide them all the way to high school graduation! This delightful premise has captured the hearts of many, blending academic struggles with budding romance.
From Manga to Anime: A Journey to the Screen
The beloved manga series received its first TV anime adaptation from January to March 2019, followed by the second season, Gotoubun no Hanayome∬, which aired from January to March 2021. The narrative reached its emotional climax with the movie Gotoubun no Hanayome, released on May 20, 2022, depicting the quintuplets’ final high school event, the school festival. But the story didn’t end there! Fans were treated to further animated content with Gotoubun no Hanayome∽ in July 2023, which brought to life original manga episodes not covered in the TV series. Most recently, Gotoubun no Hanayome＊, chronicling the honeymoon arc of Fuutarou and the quintuplets, premiered in theaters in September 2024.
