The highly anticipated movie, Gekijouban “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu”, is set to charm audiences nationwide starting February 13, 2026 (Friday). In a thrilling announcement leading up to its release, details regarding the film’s theme song, a brand-new trailer, and the second wave of special pre-sale Movi*chike* tickets have been unveiled!

About “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu”
“Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu” (it can be translated as “The Dangers in My Heart”) is the latest captivating work by Sakurai Norio, currently serialized in Akita Shoten’s “Champion Cross”. This heartwarming series has already surpassed an impressive cumulative total of 6.5 million copies in print, captivating readers with its charming story. It’s a delightful romantic comedy that follows the blossoming first love between Ichikawa Kyoosuke, a gloomy middle schooler deeply entrenched in his *chuunibyou* delusions, and Yamada Anna, a beautiful and cheerful classmate brimming with natural innocence.
The Heartwarming Story Unfolds

Our protagonist, Ichikawa Kyoosuke, is a middle school boy with a serious case of *chuunibyou*, often found engrossed in peculiar reads like “Murder Encyclopedia” and “Anatomy Diagrams”. His quiet, introspective world is suddenly turned upside down when Yamada Anna, the most popular girl in class, unexpectedly enters it. She might be seen munching on *onigiri* in the library, humming a tune, or perhaps, closing in on him with surprising closeness. Bewildered by Yamada-san’s unpredictable actions and words, Ichikawa-kun soon finds his thoughts consumed by her.
Meanwhile, as Yamada-san spends more time talking to Ichikawa-kun, she too begins to feel an undeniable pull towards him. This is the story of discovering that intoxicating feeling of “love” for the first time. Overcoming misunderstandings and clumsy emotions, the distance between them slowly, but surely, begins to shrink, drawing them closer with every shared moment.

The Anime’s Resounding Success and Theatrical Return
The TV anime adaptation first aired its highly acclaimed first season in April 2023, followed by an equally successful second season in January 2024. Broadcast on TV Asahi’s national 24-station “NUMAnimation” block, BS Asahi, and CS Tereasa Channel 1, the series garnered significant praise both domestically and internationally. Notably, its second season even won the prestigious “Best 2D Animation” award at the 29th Asian Television Awards, showcasing its global impact.
Now, this beloved series makes its grand return to theaters! The Gekijouban “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu” offers a re-edited version of the TV anime series, primarily from Ichikawa-kun’s perspective. But that’s not all – it will feature brand-new, never-before-seen footage depicting what happens after the second season, including a thrilling live performance by Ichikawa-kun’s elder sister, Ichikawa Kana, and other “special moments” shared between Ichikawa-kun and Yamada-san.

A Visual Feast: The Main Key Visual
The newly unveiled main visual for the Gekijouban “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu” is truly striking, featuring Ichikawa Kyoosuke and Yamada Anna standing amidst a breathtaking row of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. The sight of them side-by-side, each harboring strong emotions in their gaze, hints at their evolving relationship. While still retaining the charm of their previous awkward yet sincere connection, the visual also evokes a fresh, subtly different atmosphere. The softly falling cherry blossom petals further enhance the tender and poignant world of the film, adding a layer of delicate beauty.

Additionally, in the background, we can spot the cheerful trio of Sekine Moeko, Kobayashi Chihiro, and Yoshida Serina, along with Nanjo Haruya, quietly observing Yamada-san. This visual promises a slightly different vibe from the TV anime series, building anticipation for the theatrical experience.
The Main Trailer: A Journey of Emotions
The main trailer, on the other hand, meticulously re-explores the relationship that Ichikawa-kun and Yamada-san have carefully built over time. It’s skillfully edited with scattered cuts that reflect their journey through the TV anime, creating a deeply moving experience for fans who have followed their story. Prepare to feel a powerful tug at your heartstrings as you revisit their progress!
Adding to the excitement, the trailer introduces a completely new scene: Ichikawa Kana (Ichikawa-oneechan)’s band performance! Set to “Tsudzuku,” a track by Onee-chan’s band “Primary COLOR,” the footage captures the electrifying energy of the stage and the roar of the crowd, offering a truly immersive and powerful experience that only a theatrical release can deliver.
And then, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! The trailer draws to a close with a breathtaking scene where Ichikawa-kun and Yamada-san’s feelings intertwine, perfectly synchronized with Yorushika’s theme song “Akane.” This moment, so sweet and pure, will surely make your heart flutter, confirming that their relationship is indeed moving forward. Get ready for a dose of *kyun-kyun* (heart-thumping) emotions!

Overall, the trailer masterfully weaves together the delicate emotional distance characteristic of “Boku Yaba” with new developments only possible in a movie, naturally building excitement and anticipation for what’s to come.
Yorushika’s “Akane” Unveiled as Theme Song
Yorushika, who captivated us with the opening theme for the first season of the TV anime, returns to provide the theme song, “Akane,” which was first publicly revealed in today’s main trailer released on December 1, 2025. Furthermore, the second round of Movi*chike* pre-sale tickets (card version) has also been confirmed for release! This highly anticipated lineup comes with a variety of special bonus items that fans won’t want to miss.

With this information drop, we’re bursting with excitement for the upcoming release! Fans can surely look forward to more exciting updates in the future. Gekijouban “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu,” depicting the 青春 (seishun – youth) everyone dreams of, will be released nationwide on February 13, 2026 (Friday).
Comment from n-buna (Yorushika)
I have always loved and often read Shimazaki Tooson’s collection of poems, “Wakana-shuu.” One particular poem within it is “Shiru ya Kimi.” “Akane” was written with direct influence from that poem. For some reason, “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu” always evokes an image of dusk for me. Perhaps their relationship gives off such an impression, or maybe there’s an intuition that the immense nostalgia we feel for our student days is close to a vivid red color. I hope this song, “Akane,” along with “Shayo,” which I previously provided, will become a part of the vibrant tapestry that colors the visual work “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu.”
