Exciting Updates from the Kaijuu 8-gou Universe!
Big news dropped at the Jump Super Stage event for the hit series Kaijuu 8-gou (also known as Kaiju No. 8)! The anime is officially heading into its final arc, and a brand-new short anime titled Narumi no Heijitsu (Narumi’s Weekdays) is on the way. Fans were treated to a fresh announcement promo and a cool new visual to hype up these upcoming projects.
About the Kaijuu 8-gou Anime
The anime, which brings Matsumoto Naoya‘s action-packed sci-fi manga to life, is produced by the stellar studio Production I.G. It kicked off with its first season in Spring 2024, followed swiftly by a second season in Summer 2025. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons with subtitles and provided dubs in several languages, helping the series build a huge international fanbase.
On top of that, March 28 saw the premiere of Kaijuu 8-gou Movie (Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon), a compilation film, and the special episode Hoshina no Kyuujitsu (Hoshina’s Day Off), giving viewers even more kaiju-fueled content to enjoy.
The Manga Behind the Hype
All this excitement stems from the original manga by Matsumoto Naoya, which was serialized on Shounen Jump+ starting in July 2020. The manga recently wrapped up its story on July 18 this year, with the 16th and final volume hitting shelves on September 4. With a staggering cumulative 19 million copies of its volumes in circulation, it’s clear that Kaijuu 8-gou has cemented itself as a modern juggernaut in the manga world.
International Reach
For fans outside Japan, VIZ Media holds the English license for the manga and released the 14th volume on September 2. Additionally, Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform simulpublishes the series in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, Russian, and French, making it incredibly accessible for a global audience.
