Japan’s Anime Trend Awards 2025 Crowns Its Winner
On December 26th at 7:00 PM, the new future of television, ABEMA, broadcast the massive “Nihon Anime Trend Taishou 2025” (Japan Anime Trend Awards 2025) on its Anime SPECIAL channel. The program featured the award ceremony where winners in various categories were announced based on data collected from major media outlets and rigorous judging by ABEMA.
And the winner of the Anime News Award has been decided: the TV anime Yakuyo no Hitorigoto (also known as The Apothecary Diaries)!
Celebrating the Trends of 2025
The “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2025” looked back at the trends that defined the year while also introducing the hot topics for 2026. The main MC was Yuuki Iwa of the comedy duo Haraichi, with voice actress Youko Hikasa serving as the sub-MC. The guest lineup featured anime-loving celebrities like Sora Tokui, Takanori Inukai, Akari Akase, and Tairou Tenjinhai.
The Anime News Award Winner: Yakuyo no Hitorigoto
The Anime News Award, given to the anime-related news story from 2025 that most captured fans’ hearts, was awarded to Yakuyo no Hitorigoto. This series took the top spot for PV views on Anime! Anime!’s related articles and caused a major stir with the announcement that a third season and a theatrical movie are in production.
The award ceremony featured congratulatory video messages from Akira Yuuki (the voice of Maomao) and Takeo Ootsuka (the voice of Jinshi), along with a comment from the TV anime’s production committee, all expressing their joy at the recognition.
