Manga Readers Voice Their Hopes: “Which Finished Series Should Be Animated Next?” 2025 Second Half Results
Every year in Japan, a huge number of anime series are released to the world. Supporting this rich lineup is the existence of original manga.
In 2025, anime adaptations of manga like Takopii no Genzai, Hikari ga Shinda Natsu, Nohara Hiroshi: Hirumeshi no Ryuugi, and Peleliu: Rakuen no Guernica have been produced. Many fans are undoubtedly hoping to see their favorite titles get the animated treatment.
So, following up on the first half of 2025, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Which Manga Do You Want to See Animated? (2025 Second Half)”.
We targeted series that have not yet been animated or haven’t had an adaptation officially announced, splitting them into two categories: a “Still-Serializing Works” division for ongoing series, and a “Completed Works” division for series that have already reached their conclusion.
During the survey period from November 22nd to December 1st, we received responses from 155 people. The gender ratio was roughly equal, with about 45% male and 55% female respondents. The age groups were also fairly distributed, with those 19 and under and those in their 30s each making up about 25%, and those in their 40s accounting for about 20%.
This article announces the results for the Completed Works division.

The Perfect Time to Adapt These Finished Gems!
For this survey’s results, we’ll pick up and introduce some of the reader comments we received.
First, we got voices pointing out titles with elements connected to current topics and trends.
For example, Kunisaki Izumo no Jijou is a story with a kabuki female impersonator as the protagonist, serialized in Weekly Shounen Sunday from 2010 to 2014.

Readers shared hopes that considered the timing: “With the movie ‘Kokuhou’ being a huge hit and kabuki gathering attention, this is exactly the work I want animated now. You can learn about kabuki performances, and the gorgeous costumes are also attractive.” and “Back when it was serialized in a shounen magazine, depicting romantic feelings and affection from the same gender was probably rare. Now that the mood of the times has changed, I’d like to see it animated.”
DC x Sonikku za Hejjihoggu (DC x Sonic the Hedgehog) is an American comic featuring a crossover between DC Comics heroes and characters from the game “Sonic the Hedgehog”.
One comment said, “Sonic and Shadow from Sega’s popular games, and the Justice League and Batman from DC Comics join the fight. I’d love to see this dream collaboration in anime form.” With recent announcements like Sonic x Shadow: TOKYO MISSION and Ninja Batman vs. Yakuza League, both series are seeing more screen adaptations, so fans seem to be hoping for an anime of this crossover too.
Titles with reincarnation elements are also popular.
Yokuaru Reijou Tensei da to Omotta no ni (I Thought This Was a Typical Noble Lady Reincarnation, But…) is a fantasy where the protagonist gets pulled into the world of a novel and struggles to avoid a bad ending. “Just like the title says, you think it’s a ‘typical’ development, but the protagonist struggles way more than you’d imagine, which is surprisingly fun. I get excited every time, wondering if the reincarnated heroine can change her situation.” readers said, praising its story that subverts expectations.

Hanabi wa Samenai Yume wo Miru (Fireworks Dream of Dreams That Don’t Fade) is a story where a duchess, betrayed by her fiancé and executed, is reincarnated as a modern Japanese high school girl. “There are many works about reincarnating from modern Japan into another world, but the ‘reverse’ is surprisingly rare, isn’t it? I was curious about what would happen next, including the development of being reborn as a bullied girl.” highlighting the freshness of its perspective.
Mou Ichido, Hikari no Naka e (Once More, Into the Light) follows a protagonist executed for a crime he didn’t commit, who is reborn as the princess of an enemy nation and tries to grasp happiness. “The deeply affectionate depictions of her new family—her father, mother, brothers—contrast with her miserable previous life and really tug at the heartstrings. I’d love to see her happy form with movement and voice in a video adaptation.” showing votes for a story about rebirth within the same world.
Readers also focused on titles by authors connected to anime works.
For Dai Kagaku Shoujo (Big Science Girl), a comment read: “The debut work of Shibuya Keiichirou-sensei, whose ‘Ruri no Houseki’ was animated this year. It’s a science comedy, a chaotic ‘science hotpot’ depicting the daily life of the ‘Big Science Club’ where various genres are mixed together.”
For Hatsukoi* Relay Trip, one said: “Set in a high school railway club, this masterpiece remains popular even after the manga ended, holding collaboration events with local railway companies. The author, Nagayama Yuunon-sensei, also worked as one of the character designers for ‘Summer Pockets’, which is getting an anime, so there’s momentum.”
For Samon-kun wa Summoner, a fan wrote: “I was hooked from the very first chapter. The fact that the protagonist, who’s called trash and bugs, is a first-rate summoner is cool, and the comedic timing is excellent. It’s set in the same world as ‘Choujun! Choujou Senpai’, which got an anime adaptation, so I want it to ride that wave and get animated!”
Here Are Some Other Reader Comments!
For Jisatsu Tou (Suicide Island): “This work, which depicts the harsh life on an island where suicide repeaters are exiled, makes you think deeply about life and death. Survival techniques like cooking methods appear in the story, and I was even influenced to try making jerky myself.”
For Abyss Rage: “Because there are more opportunities for works serialized in ‘Shounen Jump+’ to get animated. It’s a story where a blind boy fights using ancient martial arts, and the battle scenes would absolutely look amazing in anime.”
For Fuka Toukyou (Deep Tokyo): “It’s a death game title, but there are many characters you can empathize with on both the enemy and ally sides. The further you read, the more shocking developments await, and you just can’t stop turning the pages.” Votes came in for these diverse titles.
In the Completed Works division, the results highlighted not just popular works, but titles that feel perfect to recommend now, considering the current era and their visual potential.
