Berserk is the epic dark fantasy manga by Miura Kentarou that began serialization in 1989 in “Monthly Animal House” before moving to “Young Animal.” Set in a world of swords, sorcery, and horrifying monsters, it depicts the brutal and tragic life journey of the protagonist, Guts. With its profound story, compelling characters, overwhelmingly detailed artwork, and unparalleled creativity, it has captivated readers not just in Japan, but across the globe.
The series has been translated into over 20 countries and regions, with cumulative worldwide circulation (including both physical and digital copies) reaching 70 million copies. It was first adapted into a TV anime from 1997 to 1998, followed by a trilogy of theatrical films from 2012 to 2013, and a new TV anime series from 2016 to 2017. The film trilogy covering the “Golden Age Arc” was re-released as a Memorial Edition TV series in 2022, a decade after its original premiere.
