What is Haisukuru! Kimenshu?
Haisukuru! Kimenshu is a gag manga by Motoie Shinzawa that was serialized during the golden age of Weekly Shounen Jump in the 1980s. It took the world by storm with its outrageously high-energy gags from a cast of unbelievably eccentric characters, combined with a heartwarming story about friendship and youth.
Led by the protagonist Ittoo Rei, the “Kimenshu” members are the stars, but the series is packed with unforgettable faces. From the heroine-like Kawakawa Yui and Uru Chie, to the sporty “Ude-gumi” (Arm Group), the delinquent “Ban-gumi” (Team Group), and the handsome “Irootoko-gumi” (Good-Looking Guys Group)—these characters, all labeled as “hopeless cases,” are a testament to the unique creativity that could only spring from the 80s.
