Season 5 Officially Announced!
Great news for fans! It’s been announced that the fifth season of the TV anime “Kanojo, Okarishimasu” (also known as “Rent-a-Girlfriend”) will begin airing in April 2026, slotting into the “Animeism” broadcast block among others. This season will continue the “Hawaiians” arc, covering the second cours of the storyline. To mark the announcement, the first key visual has been released.

What is ‘Kanojo, Okarishimasu’?
“Kanojo, Okarishimasu” is a romantic comedy manga by Miyajima Reiji, serialized in Kodansha’s “Weekly Shounen Magazine”. The story follows Kinoshita Kazuya, a hopeless university student whose life takes a dramatic turn when he introduces the charming rental girlfriend, Mizuhara Chizuru, to his family and friends as his real girlfriend. What starts as a lie spirals into a complex web of relationships and emotions.

The TV anime adaptation first aired in July 2020, and with the adorable heroines quickly capturing hearts, it became an instant hit. Following the success, Season 2 premiered in July 2022, Season 3 in July 2023, and Season 4 in July 2025. The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime has over 360,000 followers, and the manga has surpassed 15 million copies in circulation worldwide, cementing its popularity.

The upcoming fifth season, set to start in April 2026, will delve into the second cours of the “Hawaiians” arc that began in Season 4. The released key visual features Chizuru and Mami in swimsuits, facing off by the poolside. Their expressions are strikingly contrasted: on the right, Chizuru wears a look of strong determination, while on the left, Mami flashes a challenging smile. This visual hints at the intense drama between the two that will unfold in the new season.
Along with this announcement, the anime’s official website has been renewed, revealing that the staff and cast from Season 4 will be returning. The character introduction page now showcases swimsuit and lounge wear visuals for Kazuya, Chizuru, and Mami, giving fans a sneak peek. As the broadcast date approaches, anticipation for further updates is only growing.
